We insisted on booking Empress Dalat because of the excellent reviews we read in several reputable travel guides and websites even though our wonderful Vietnamese travel agent tried to encourage us to book elsewhere. The young manager of the Empress who arranged our transport from Saigon and met us on arrival was helpful and kind, as was the capable and... more

This is a great looking hotel (from the outside) right on the lake. We are not overly fussy and tend to acceptthings as they are.........however, the rooms are overpriced (USD$45 per night) and in need of refurbishment. Aircon sounds like it's operating, but is totally ineffective. Room had a musty smell on entering, but we got used to it. There... more

This place was well positioned, near the town centre and across the road from the lake. We had an excellent room with a lake view, Breakfasts were adequate and the staff generally helpful. However as it was pretty chilly at night we had to ask for our bedspread back, for some reason they'd removed it after the first night. Beware... more

The Empress is a bit like the rest of Dalat - needing to move ahead with the times in terms of tourists. This hotel was more like an old motel. The location is good overlooking the lake and the place looks nice from the outside, but the service is apethetic (not that I can blame them!) and the rooms have... more

After staying in one of the many budget hotels in Dalat on our first night, we wanted to get away from the noise and chaos of the market area and find a quieter spot. Someone recommended the Empress. First impression is excellent. The hotel sits on a hill overlooking the lake. There was a very friendly porter at the street... more

We stayed at the Emrpess for just one night which I have to say was a relief. The location is good opposite the lake and only a short walk into the main restaurant area. However our room was dark and felt damp. The only lighting was fluorescent and these buzzed continually when on. Brealfast was quite limited. more

We enjoyed our 3D2N stayed at Empress Hotel. Our room is clean, big & cozy. This little hotel is well situated next to the lake, only few minutes walk to the town center. Empress provide the basic, room + breakfast. Not much facility, anyway I don't have much time to stay inside the hotel room as Dalat have so much... more

Absentee owner evident in poor management and uncared for gardens, unfriendly place. Rooms quite dark because of Swiss style and use of dark wood but a good size. more

We stayed here for 4 nights. It is a good hotel with a couple of problems but a lovely location by the lake within easy walking distance of the centre. The first night we stayed in a regular double room - we had to move to the upper floor as the downstairs room smelled damp. The room we moved to was great $48... more

The hotel sheets were pretty dirty. However, the staff was very good, waiting after hours until we returned to give us a verbal message from our Aunt. We chose to stay at this hotel rather than Sofitel because it was the only one in the city that had showers. Despite the good staff, I would not stay at this hotel... more
