We've just returned from two weeks in Thailand for our honeymoon and we began our stay at the Amanpuri in Phuket. From the minute we got off the plane and greeted by the car the hotel sent to pick us up (a BMW 740) it was just wonderful. The hotel, if you can even call it that, was just beautiful.... more

Having stayed at the Aman-i-kas in India I was really looking forward to the "original" Aman. Overall I was seriously disappointed. The rooms were attractive and well-maintained, but I definately felt like I was staying in something that was built in the 1970's (it appears that no fixtures have been replaced--small, black bathtubs and black tile in the bathrooms, old... more

You need to select your villla carefully. Som eof the Villas are definitely not worth the money, for example, they overlook the parking lot and ar a long walk from the beach. But, otherwise it is a great hotel. The alternative is the Banyan Tree where you can get a villa with a pool for the same price. more

We have stayed in some of the top rated hotels in the world and we are not easy to please. It took us 2 months of research to find the hotel we thought was right for us in Phuket, had stayed at the Oriental in Bangkok then the Four Seasons in Chaing Mai, both good hotels but this one blew... more

I usually don't write reviews but I use this site and I almost cancelled Amapuri because of the negative reviews. I am very glad I did not as we had a wonderful stay at the property. My husband and I tend to travel a lot and stay in 5 star resorts (Four Seasons Punta Mita, Le Sirenuse amongst others this... more

The villas are very old and the whole hotel is badly maintained. I thought I would arrive to a glorious hotel, instead I felt being in an ordinary hotel, with perhaps a bit bigger villas then ordinary hotels (but also paying for this). My cupboard almost fell apart, the room was extremely dusty and in teh closte there was rubbish... more

My wife and I went here back in March of 2005 after the Tsunami and had a wonderful time. I can't say enough about the quality of the service and the rooms. This is the only Aman resort we have been to, so we really don't have a basis for comparison within the chain, but we have stayed at many... more

Just returned from third stay at Amanpuri. It is still a great hotel, with all the things you expect of an Aman - excellent design, understatement, not flashy, expensive (which is not necessarily a bad thing in that it keeps a certain style of guest away) - but its standards have slipped. Not only in comparison to itself but also... more

Every detail is sophisticated. Very elegant villa. Very nice staff. Wonderful Thai food (Italian restaurant have no interest). What else ? no TV , no flat screen , no, it is not a place for "nouveau riche". more

The last few reviews have not exactly been great, but truthfully this place is still the best place to go in Phuket. Yes it is expensive and I think people do expect for the money the world at their disposal, but what makes this place is the subtle things. I have been there twice and at different times of the... more
