The new management have made a big difference. Customer service has greatly improved. The staff are more attentive and the Manager, Greg is really committed to making a stay enjoyable and trouble free. Still great value, clean rooms and central location.

I have stayed here many times and will do again but if you do stay here there are a few things you need to know! Every time i have stayed i have had problems with the booking, the ladies behind the reception make "Manuel" look like a professional person! The only thing the manage to do with any success is... Stayed for a week in September this year with my wife and daughter, so needed two rooms but have stayed at "Shaggies" many times. Always great value with a choice of three different room types, all are air-conditioned and clean. Shagwell is a budget hotel with great food, cold beer and a nice swimming pool. Shagwell Mansions has a couple... More

Just stayed the two nights, plenty of vacancys and room as the hotel is well off the beaten track. There is a seven/eleven 20 metres away and plenty of bars/restaurants nearby. There is some condos called Nelam close by so plenty of people around this area. You have a huge Big C (formerly Carrefour) 500 metres away with foodcourts plenty... More

Stayed at Shagwell (stupid name) couldn't fault the rooms, 880 baht standard room( the quietest rooms face on to the small lane) with free brekkie(value 99baht)are the best value and all you need, studio rooms are good too but pricier.Problem with Shagwell is the two NOISY bars on both sides, also the distance from beach road, having to take a death defying... Although it has a very strange name the hotel is by far one of the best budget hotels I have stayed at. The staff appear to be unfriendly but when they get to know you they are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The restaurant serves up a good breakfast that is included in your room rate, and main meals are very... More

Shagwell is a decent, clean and good value place to stay. Had a lovely, large room overlooking the pool. Not the cheapest or best place we've stayed, but would recommend, particularly if you enjoy being away from the hustle of walking street or soi 8.

I satayed for ten days in March this year and could not fault anything about the place. All the staff were friendly and helpful from the room cleaners to the managers. I especially enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere in amongst the hustle and bustle of downtown Walking Street. It is a fair way from the centre of action but only a... More
