We loved this place which - in two words - was beautiful and simple. We stayed in three different rooms, at three different times and all of them were visually lovely. The decor is colonial, with fresh flowers everywhere. Many of the rooms have private balconies which are perfect to while away some time. There are two downsides for me... More

This is a small hotel close to centre of Chiangmai. Hotel arranged efficient airport pick up at the start of our stay. Hotel staff are helpful and friendly. No lift and we were on top floor. Not advised for anyone with mobility problem! Room basic but comfortable. Safe on rather low unit so not easy to use. No wardrobe but... More

Our favourite place in Northern Thailand: casual elegant decor with perfect street level balcony to watch the comings and goings of Sunday walking market. Wonderful staff: Pon especially is a delight, but as is everyone. The live music - on occasional nights - is similarly tasteful and enjoyable. Food is great.

The location of this pretty little hotel could not be any better. Right smack on Sunday walking street market with very nice restaurants, cafés, boutiques, etc nearby. Email communication with the hotel was quite efficient and car pickup from the airport was hassle free and on time. Check in was quick and we were given room no. 1 although we... More

We had room 2. The room safe did not work. We were not offered another one. There was a large mouldy damp patch on the bathroom ceiling and paint was flaking off the bath/shower. There was no shower curtain. None of the doors or windows fit properly, an invitation for mosquitos. The WIFI is annoyingly intermittent. There were no tea... More

The staff was amazing, especially Pom. She looked after all our needs, and gave us a big hug on departure. The hotel is cozy, if a bit noisy, but the rooms were very spacious. Our room was right on the Main Street, but luckily I brought ear plugs.

Stayed here over new years. Great location, right on Sunday Walking Street. Also close to everything in the Old City....but then Chian Mai is nice and compact. We stayed in room 3, so out the back, but with a cute verandah. This is a good room if you want to avoid the street noise. Disappointments were...no kettle in the room (100b... More

I have no hesitation in recommending this small, delightful colonial hotel on the same street as the Saturday walking market in Chiang Mai. The room we had is large and comfortable with a small sitting room attached and a decent bathroom with a bath though no shower. My only complaint about the room is that there were some windows without... More

We stayed here in November with our son and partner. The hotel is in a great location and is bright and airy. The rooms are a good size. The bathroom was a bit of a pain - a sit-in bath (in other words you couldn't lie down in it) and there was no shower curtain. To take a shower I... More

With its location in the Old City, this hotel is convenient to all the top visitor attractions in Chiang Mai. It's colonial design is charming, and the layout of the restaurant/garden make it feel like a secluded oasis—even in the heart of the city. The staff was wonderful: welcoming, helpful, and always at the ready. We enjoyed breakfast at the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
This award-winning renovation of a colonial style building, in the centre of Chiang Mai, offers just 10 guestrooms and conjures up a peaceful, and rather aristocratic feel which is perfect for a laid-back getaway in this remarkable city. Taken from the name of Laos’ national flower, Villa Duang Champa , successful renovation into an elegant, four story luxury bed and breakfast was awarded by the Siam Architect , Association and its not hard to see why. The restoration pays attention to differences in each room’s design – each room is a triumph of tasteful, individual décor. Other delights include a winding staircase connecting the breakfast room to the second floor, a giant tree and lovely teatime table in the small garden, and the lighting; a mixture of contemporary and traditional approaches. Each room has large windows, which give plenty of natural light to highlight the room décor. Those who love colonial charm and minimalism will be in heaven here. The 10 bedrooms are spread between four bright floors, with views to the mountains. Inside you'll find comfy retro chairs, stylish daybeds, and old-fashioned lighting as well as interesting floor-tiles and individual pale colors on white color schemes. ... more   less
