This hotel was better than expected. The staff was very welcoming and were of great assistance, for example, disposing of my leftover durian that I didn't want stinking up my room. Oddly, the thing I love most about VDC was the bread at breakfast. Those two slices of bread are the best bread I have ever had to date. I... More

Villa was in a perfect location in Chaing Mai's old city. We were walking distance to great restaurants, massage, and bars. The famous Sunday night market is right in front of the hotel. We loved the peaceful vibe and live music every evening. The breakfast was fantastic it was definite value for your money.

Great location for Sunday walking street, but not worth the cost. Ants were in the room and the water was shut off for most of the time during the day that we were there. They were undertaking renovations, so hopefully it's nicer now than in summer 2012.

Stayed there in May'14 for a few days as a solo traveller. The room was larger than what I needed but it was a good way to spoil oneself. The location is unbeatable, with a number of nice bars/coffee shops in the vicinity (Chiang Mai is a pretty navigable city anyways). The service was great and they hook you up... More

Stayed there in 2012 and it was lovely! Tony was the best concierge ever and I'd definily go back. The location is perfect, and if you are there on Sunday, there's a street fair right in front of the hotel.

We loved everything about the hotel, the room was amazing with its "oldish colonial" style, amazing view and charming balcony. The bathroom needed a bit of a refresh, but somehow it was nice that everything was not new and shiny. Nice lounge (the whlole hotel is amazing), and very nice people welcoming you. In a word : excellent !!

Dear; Camille D Thank you for taking time sharing your feedback. We are appreciate and thankful for your review. The "oldies colonial style" interior and exterior is inspired by Hotel Owner who’s put every little thing together and glued it with love. We are glad you like it. We’re taking your comment into our task list. The bathroom refreshment is... More

We had a beautifull room with minibar, air conditioning and a big balcony. The room was clean and the bathroom too ! Nice located. Quiet. The breakfast is included. The building appears in good condition.

We loved this place which - in two words - was beautiful and simple. We stayed in three different rooms, at three different times and all of them were visually lovely. The decor is colonial, with fresh flowers everywhere. Many of the rooms have private balconies which are perfect to while away some time. There are two downsides for me... More

This is a small hotel close to centre of Chiangmai. Hotel arranged efficient airport pick up at the start of our stay. Hotel staff are helpful and friendly. No lift and we were on top floor. Not advised for anyone with mobility problem! Room basic but comfortable. Safe on rather low unit so not easy to use. No wardrobe but... More

Our favourite place in Northern Thailand: casual elegant decor with perfect street level balcony to watch the comings and goings of Sunday walking market. Wonderful staff: Pon especially is a delight, but as is everyone. The live music - on occasional nights - is similarly tasteful and enjoyable. Food is great.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This award-winning renovation of a colonial style building, in the centre of Chiang Mai, offers just 10 guestrooms and conjures up a peaceful, and rather aristocratic feel which is perfect for a laid-back getaway in this remarkable city. Taken from the name of Laos’ national flower, Villa Duang Champa , successful renovation into an elegant, four story luxury bed and breakfast was awarded by the Siam Architect , Association and its not hard to see why. The restoration pays attention to differences in each room’s design – each room is a triumph of tasteful, individual décor. Other delights include a winding staircase connecting the breakfast room to the second floor, a giant tree and lovely teatime table in the small garden, and the lighting; a mixture of contemporary and traditional approaches. Each room has large windows, which give plenty of natural light to highlight the room décor. Those who love colonial charm and minimalism will be in heaven here. The 10 bedrooms are spread between four bright floors, with views to the mountains. Inside you'll find comfy retro chairs, stylish daybeds, and old-fashioned lighting as well as interesting floor-tiles and individual pale colors on white color schemes. ... more   less
