My partner and I moved to stay at the Field Village, having been rescued from a God-awful hotel right by the night market in Chiang Mai centre. Mr. Vijit, the taxi driver, came to collect us (following an arrangement with the hotel), and we checked in to a field villa which was simple, and good for the cost of the... more

[2009-05-03 22:56:50] Martin Lamontagne: It was our second time at The Field Village as we decided to extend our stay in Thailand to go back to Chiang Mai for Songkran!! What an experience! Jong, owner of Field Village, personally picked up us at the airport. We had a very nice cottage, Banana, on second floor with an overview of the... more

Finally a review of the hotel that will help you make the right choice for your holiday... 1. Planes Planes yes they do fly over the paddy field next to the Hotel about every 1/2 hr from about 7 am during the day but they stop about 9/10 pm. 1.1 You do have to turn up the TV but it... more

We stayed for the second time in The Field Village, and it was wonderful again. The cottages are great, spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff is lovely and always helpful. The area around the resort is very quiet, youre in the middle of the Chiangmai countryside. We already planned our next visit to the Field.....we love it! Ron & Louisa more

We wanted accomodations that were off the beaten path to experience the real Thailand. This was the perfect choice. The Field Village is a unique setting with 10 charming teak houses surrouded by an abundance of beautiful nature with a pool and a relaxing enviornment. The service was excellent and attentive. Their house menu was also good and authentic. Although... more

Tried out this hotel because of the 'hidden gem asia award' as probably many people will have. On a positive note: the place looks nice, owners are super friendly, restaurant is ok, on the outskirts of town so relatively quiet, and country side is easily accessible. You will probably have a great time if you don't mind aeroplane noise. We... more

We stayed 6 nights on our honeymoon and it complimented our whole Thailand itinerary beautifully. We'd done the beach & 5 star resort thing in Koh Samui and were after "the real Thailand". The Field Village offerred some insight into rural life in Thailand but had the modern cons we are used to, such as room service, swimming pool, air-conditioning... more

We were looking for a nice place to spend the last days of our trip and found The Field Village through Tripadvisor, as the winner of the "Best hidden gem in Asia"-award. Sounds pretty good..! The resort lies about 15-20 minutes from the city center, on a nice spot in the countryside. A free pick-up from the airport/center is included.... more

I read the raves about this hotel and thought it would be worth it in spite of the distance from the city center. It wasn't. The service was ok, very genial, but nobody ever answered the phone at reception. We wanted to use the saltwater pool but it was empty for two days of our stay. At night, it was... more

We are sorry that this guest felt that we are poor value unlike most guests who think we are good value. Yes we are 15 minutes from the centre of Chiangmai and the taxi ride is 250 THB We are the nearest and most convenient location for those who want countryside(access to tours and environment) and proximity to the city....
