I have stayed at the Royal Lanna for 5 years now and have read some very indifferent reports on it so lets get serious about it. Lets look at the Pros and Cons. Cons 1. Yes it could use an upgrade. It is a bit 1980's and needs a bit of a "reno". 2. I would like to see a... More

Royal Lanna is a large 22-floor hotel in the night bazaar area. Looks nice from the outside and has a big, beautiful lobby. BUT...rooms are shabby and totally lacking in amenities. Old, 70s-vintages TVs with poor reception. No safe box, no in-room coffee-tea service sets, not even toilet sprayers (usually found even in very low-budget hotels). West-facing rooms views of... The Royal Lanna is a hotel with a great location to explore the night markets and city of Chiangmai. During the day the surrounding area is quiet. But when dusk sets in it is transformed into the most happening place in Chiangmai. Like I said the location of the hotel is great and it is a inexpensive hotel. Looks like... More

The hotel is massive and you won't get any kind of personal service here (to be expected). The pool is far to small to service the hotel's surplus of floors and the breakfast buffet is not up to much, even by Thai standards. The rooms are very big but basic. We were on the eleventh floor which offered some good... More

Royal Lanna Hotel in Chiang Mai, smiling and friendly staff, good breakfast buffet. The hotel itself could do with a renovation and cleaning missing and little ......... My 4 days as a whole, a lovely stay and will gladly come again, thank you.

Upon arrival we were offered a "Superior" room on the 8th floor. Superior to what? The room was dirty and shabby, not at all what was represented by the pictures on the website. For an additional 300b per night, we were offered a "Deluxe" room on the 16th floor. It was significantly cleaner and in much better condition. There's an... More

My family and I stayed at the Royal lanna last dec. The rooms are big and spacious , breakfast was good. However the hotel is in need of a renovation. The location is fantastic -the night market is right in front of the hotel. There's also a small travel agency close by which arranged my transport to Chiangrai at 500... More

this is the worse hotel that we have ever stayed in, I would say a 1 or 2 star, from the moment we entered the staff we rude and unwelcoming, the lobby looks ok, but the rest is shocking, dirty, old, stained cushions on bed, mouldy shower curtain, mouldy tiles......I could go on and on.....no kettle in rooms, breakfast awful,... I loved being able to step out right into the fabulous night market of chiang mai, so much to see, do and eat. Near to pubs, Thai restaurants and my personal fav River Market, and also reputable massage places. Also ten mins walk is art in paradise which I recommend for a surreal and hugely entertaining hour's visit. The hotel... More

We found this hotel on Agoda and checked out two days later because we were so unhappy with it. The receptionist never spoke any English which made it hard to express our issues with the hotel. The hotel is centrally located which is great but it is very very old and tired. The room was large and clean but again,... More
