I'm sure the Suriwongse Hotel was nice...in 1955. Judging from the decor and condition of the rooms, It doesn't look like it's been updated since then. Right in the middle of the night bazaar, opoosite the Le Merdien. We stayed for a 4 nights. Depending on where your room is facing (rs was facing the night bazaar) it can get rather noisy at night.
