My 2 nights here in a 20-bed dorm were surprisingly free of any hostel horror story incidents. Even though it was the holiday weekend (for Loy Krathong) and many people were traveling through Chiang Mai, this hostel room didn't get out of control wild. The beds were comfy and clean, and each has its own outlet and light. Air conditioning... More

5 friends and I checked into this hostel late January 2015. We booked the 6 bunk dorm-style room. Not much to complain about. The place has an awesome common area with a kitchen and ample seating. A group of Chinese tourists invaded our floor about five days in. They were loud, young, rude, and made a mess of the place,... More

Our group of 3 walked around for a while looking for a nice hostel to stay at, until we found sohostel. It looked nice from the outside, common area was also nice. We weren't going to book it once we walked in though since the ladies in the front we're very rude and unhelpful, but we can't turn down a... More

Guests were really noisy, some girls got into a screaming match at 12:30am that lasted for an hour and staff didn't do anything. Obnoxious guests but it would be nice if the staff had asked them to calm down. Otherwise, great value for money. Rooms are very clean, laundry facilities available.

I had to switch hotels while in Chiang Mai because I extended my visit, so I walked into Sohostel because the location is awesome. I booked one of the private rooms. It was spacious, very clean, and the bed was comfortable. The walk-in rate was 45.00 USD a night, so I'm not sure if it is less or more expensive... More

I booked on agoda and it was cheaper then hostel bookers or world. The staff at the front desk are alright but nothing to brag about. I stayed here just over 2 years ago the place wasn't even finished then. Its a big hostel 9 floors so if your traveling solo it may not be the best place as my... More

We arrived at 4am since that's when the train arrived in Chiang Mai, it looked like a decent hostel from the outside so we asked if they had room and paid for one night (we were going to pay for 3-5 nights but at reception they said it was cheaper to book online, so we were going to do this... I hate to leave such a negative review when there was one nice guy that worked at SoHostel, but I have to agree with what a previous reviewer said: all of the staff were unpleasant except the one male staff member. You got the vibe immediately at the front desk that all the female staff members hate their jobs and... More

We stayed in a 12-bed dorm here for two nights and the hostel was completely fine. It's quite modern and has a huge common area downstairs which is treat for meeting people. The bunk beds were quite rickety and all very close together, so when someone got on their bed a few bunks away, it still shook your bed as... More
