We’ve stayed at The Empress a number of times over the past 10 years. This time was specifically for the early November Loy Kathong celebrations, which meant that the room price for those (4) nights was a little higher than normal. The hotel is in quiet location, just off the Chang Klan Road, in walking distance of the night market... More

Large rooms, great breakfast, lots of choice, pleasant staff, amazingly fast lifts. If you stay there you must visit the massage place just outside the hotel on the right. Called the best massage. Excellent traditional thai massage over 2 hours for 450 baht (under £10!)' much better than the one I had in bangkok.

Average impersonal large hotel. Short walk to night market but taxi or tuk-tuk needed for city centre or riverside sights. Food at hotel is average and not too many eating places near hotel. Night Market is good fun with cheap clothes and other goods on sale. Also many interesting Thai and other eateries around. Paying for Wi-Fi in 2014 is... More

What can I say Every thing about this hotel is perfect Apart from the cheap beds and the crap shower that drowns the floor whichever way you point it The staff are amazing the food is first class An orchid on your pillow every night And if you want a tour please use Charlie the taxi driver who works out... We stayed for overnight twice. The first night the room was on 16th floor. The room was nice and quiet. As we booked a room also for another night they kept our luggage for 2 nights. The second time they booked us a room on the 11th floor. We asked for one with parquet so they changed it to a... More

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights on a tour. This hotel is in a great location. About a 15 minutes walk to the night market(best prices if you bargain) and a 2 minute walk to one of the cleanest massage places in Thailand. The hotel offers breakfast which was decent. The rooms were a nice size although outdated... More

Comfortable hotel with all amenities you would expect from a 4-Star-hotel, yet nothing special in terms of atmosphere. Very clean, very friendly staff. Lots of conventions, functions and groups. Very good price-quality relation if booked in advance via one of the big hotel booking sites. Recommended!

The Hotel is really nice, large rooms with impressing city view. Nice pool and very good breakfast. The staff was very helpful. About 10 minutes walk from the night market. We enjoyed our stay there. Wifi connection was of medium/low quality.

Stayed on grouptour. Nice enough old style rooms with very small and dated bathroom. Small and ugly swimming pool between 4 concrete walls. Breakfast ok. Shockingly they charge for wifi (working ok). Easy access to night bazar. Had dinner once (included in package) : nicely presented but not good quality.

The Empress is one of the best hotels in Chiang Mai. The staff is friendly and attentive. The amenities (and the food) are excellent. In-room safes, and comfortable. If you stay at the Empress you will be delighted. Highly recommended!
