It's been a while since we've stayed at a hotel that has an actual keys there than key card, reminded me of my younger days and classic hotels you see in movies. We got a free upgrade, check in was quick and we stayed in room 1630 with great views of Chiang Mai. The interior of the hotel, rooms, lobby,... More

Stayed here for 3 nights during a driving tour of Chiangmai. Staying in the city is a good alternative when visiting the many sights of this northern Thai province. The hotel is located about 10 minutes from the night bazaar although a bit of distance from the walled part of the city. The furnishings in the room and the lobby... More

We staid 3 nights in this hotel in August 2014. We were 2 families of 9 people. The service in this hotel is OK. The breakfast room is not what you expect in this category of hotel. The rooms are a bit old and would need to be reviewed. That said, the swimming pool is OK; the location is OK... More

We stayed here for 6 days in July 14 and I have to say I have never had service like this, from the moment we first went in and were given a free upgrade by the lovely reception staff to the flowers and fruit delivered to our room, the little flower left on our bed each night, and the bag... More

This was our second visit to the Empress hotel ,this time not a great start ,the car parking attendant wanted us to leave the car in the multi storey park ,while there was plenty or room just outside the hotel ,(first impression !) checkin reception said we have been upgraded !to the seventeenth floor (sounds good) no most of the... Great hotel, about 15 mins walk from night markets. Chiang Mai isn't huge can walk pretty much all of it no problem. Pool at the hotel is absolutely fine not sure what the last review is talking about. free pool towels. No problem getting a sunbed no mater what time of day. Breakfast is good, good choice of thai and... More

Old Hotel, acceptable if you don't pretend too much. It is in a good position, Chang Mai is relatively small, we managed to walk around everywhere without needing any taxi or TucTuc. Swimming pool and solarium are awful, so don't consider that. Air con and fridge were really noisy so if noise disturb your sleep you should consider to turn... More

The Hotel looks modern from the outside but inside is a really classic hotel both in the bedrooms and the public rooms. The staff were extremely polite and friendly and the hotel was very conveniently situated in town. I would certainly return to this hotel.

This is our second stay at the Empress. The old adage that you get what you pay for, doesn,t apply to this hotel. In fact you get far more. Location is great, you are a 5 odd minute walk from the night markets. Hotel is wonderful. Rooms are spacious, very clean, and serviced by smiling and friendly staff. Breakfast is... More
