Great stay. Excellent pool and service. Rooms are very comfortable and roomy. Only down side is the small gym. Nightclub/lounge has a great live band. Breakfast buffet good but not great. Food is very average. You can't apply US/Western standards to their food. I ordered $10 "filet mignon" and it was rock hard low quality meat which was still probably... more

The Empress is incredibly well-located- less than ten minutes from the night bazaar- and the staff is very attentive for such a large hotel. The day we came back from trekking we were upgraded, and at dinner one night we received gratis shrimp and melon, cake, and Thai whiskey. The manager even presented us with jasmine flowers. A great experience... more

We love it here it was like a little oasis. The room was very clean a little old fasion in style kind of like a cottage. The bathroom was a little small. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They had good breakfast buffet with alot of variety. We would most definately stay here again. Location was great and quiet more

Were  sceptical having seen some reports, we had no issues here, yes it does not LOOK modern, but it is in the local style and better for it.   Spent 4 nights, found staff very helpful and even assisted us with excursions when other rep let us down. I must say go for an upgrade to a larger room, ask for... more

This is our 4th visit to the Empress Hotel and we were welcomed like old friends. It is the most amazing value for money and is relatively close to the famous Night Market but far enough away (some 10 minutes walk) to avoid all the noise. Other hotels which are more pricey are situated in the middle of the Market... more

This hotel has a very impressive lobby with the most uncomfortable seating I have ever experienced. The staff did not appear to enjoy their work and very few admitted to speaking English. The rooms and the food were average. Room service was very bad with mistakes made in every order even when asking for a jug of hot water which... more

I have no idea why there are bad reviews of this hotel - our experience was so different. Lobby area is gorgeous, room was large and comfortable. Bathroom was brand new and clean. Location is excellent - 10 minutes walk from the night market. Breakfast wasn't great but it was the same standard as every other decent hotel we have... more

I was expecting this to be my least favourite of the three hotels we stayed at in Thailand but i think it may have been my favourite, certainly not the poshest but for a combination of everything, i think it topped the list. Again, if you want 5*, you have to pay for 5*, i don't know why people expect... more

Very disappointing stay at this hotel. The food was awful and there was little or no difference between the breakfast, lunch or dinner buffet. The rooms were so outdated, you had to use the safety deposit box's at the reception desk for any valuables, as there was no personal safe's in the room. The seats in the lobby were very... more
