We stayed at the Empress for 4 nights en route to Koh Samui and its target market would seem to be the Japanese and Americans. Location wise, its off the main road meaning its quieter but within easy walk of the main markets, the old city and river if you don't want to get a tuk tuk. The hotel is... More

We stayed at this hotel due to a last minute switch. The hotel itself is pretty old but the location is just slightly off the main street so it's slightly more quiet and you can still walk to the main night market. The breakfast has wide selection and can't complain much about the room as it's clean and decent. We... More

We've enjoyed a lot our 4 days stay @ The Empress, its not that far from city center (15-20 min walk) (7-8 min by tuk tuk) We've spent some time around the pool area, had some great local beer Chang and a few cocktails. The hotel is traditional and you can see this all around (ground floor, rooms, etc) but... More

On the plus side, this hotel is close to the centre of Chiang Mai but tucked away from the hustle and bustle. It is also clean and reasonably cheap. It is, however, in need of some tlc. We first stayed here in 2012 and our return in February 2015 showed that no maintenance had been undertaken in the three intervening... More

Bait and Switch...we booked and paid for a King room with Executive lounge access thru Agoda. We arrived to a twin room (we are celebrating a 27 yr marriage in twin beds!) and to learn the executive lounge we paid extra for was closed and had been for some time! The front staff apologized but made no price adjustment...they sent... More

I stayed in the empress with my wife on our honeymoon. Our stay was fine, but nothing to write home about. The rooms are clean with with comfortable beds, but would not consider them elegant by any means. The front desk seemed overwhelmed and stressed much of the time and it was not always easy getting help from them. The... More

I stayed three nights for a Conference in Chiang Mai. It was at the Hotel's Convention Centre next to the Hotel. The location was a bit outside the central CM but not much to see in the city. We ate in the Hotel as part of conference programme. Staff was friendly and helpful. Chek in and out was fast. You... More

This hotel is quite old and typical of traditonal Thai hotels. I can't comment on the rooms as have not stayed there, but they have a really good buffet lunch, which is very popular with guests and expats,so make sure you book so as not to be disappointed.

The bedrooms are nice the breakfast is very good and the facilities from gym to swimming pool are all you need Very good value I will stay here again on my next visit. The food and bar at the pool were good it would be nice if at least one member of staff had a better understanding of english but... More
