A hotel review and recommendation by 'The Lonely Planet' is more than a good enough reason to select Smile House as a place to stay. After all, it boasts a great Central location (5 minutes walk to the Eastern Gate), an excellent common area with pool and better still, fan rooms from as little as 500baht per night. Bargain! However,... More

The fan room was good for cooling weather in Feb. This is definitely worth the money especially if you're planning to stay more than 3 days in Chiangmai. Good location, friendly staff and there's lovely pool you can chill there.

My 400 baht fan room was spacious and clean. The mattress was excellent. The pool is small, but pleasant. WiFi worked quickly and well poolside and more slowly, but still worked in my room. Given the pool and the good, quiet location I think this is one of the best values in Chiang Mai. I must note that the previous... More

Stayed for 3 nights in 2 different rooms. The ambiance is quite nice, but the rooms were terrible. Falling apart and disgusting, with many bugs like cockroaches. Same for the towels, curtains and such. We had the 'better' rooms with airco but for this money you can get way better very close by, just find another place really!

Last week, I stayed for 2 nights at the Smile House in Chiang Mai. It is a small property but is packed with rooms and was completely full the first night. My a/c room right beside the kiddie pool was approximately 3 X 4 meters. The two twin beds took up almost all the space available. So what does the... More

Smile house is almost the perfect guesthouse in Thailand, for us it ticks pretty much all the boxes, we still haven't found anything better. The rooms are well-priced and affordable on a backpacker budget, and come in a range of prices so it's worth asking if they've got anything at the price you're wanting to pay. Our air conditioning didn't... More

Smile house is a good place to sleep, but they have a bad administration. They forced us to pay twice for the room. We paid when we checked in, but the next day when we wanted to check out, they told us we didn't pay the day before. We explained we did pay, but they said we did not. We... More
