We stayed for 2 weeks and got to know the staff very well. Although most of the staff struggled with English they were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is placed very well with easy walking access to the Sunday night markets and a ten minute walk to the night bazaar. The restaurant was quite nice though the menu is... More

The hotel is located down a quiet little lane way not far from where they hold the Sunday Night walking market (Thae Pae gate). The hotel is very neat and tidy and kept in a very clean state. We had an interconnecting family room for our stay. The main bedroom had a very comfortable king size bed and was well... More

We loved our time at De Chai & were thankful every time we returned to our beautiful cool little hotel. The rooms are clean & chic (think W), the AC pumps cold air & the pool is pretty sweet. The staff is cordial & always willing to please. The location is perfect, just outside the old city & a couple... More

This hotel is great looking and has very good facilities and the rooms are very comfortable. The only thing that was not going for this hotel was that it was well hidden from everything and was a good walk to find your way to the main areas. Staff spoke very little english but were friendly.

I stayed here for a week at first but extended several times. One of the better hotels I've stayed in in CM. Rooms are spacious, well-designed and look new. WiFi speed is fast and reliable. Breakfast very good. Front desk staff very helpful. Only two drawbacks were the pool, being inside, was freezing, although that may come in useful in... More

We booked over the Christmas period for 4 nights (booking was made and confirmed 3 months before). The day before our arrival, they sent an email to Booking.com to say that they had to transfer us to another hotel in Chiang Mai. The last 2 nights in the De Chai The Colonial Hotel were very nice (and they tried to... More

Initially we booked Rimping Village for our first visit to Chiang Mai, but after doing a bit more research on location we changed to De Chai and am so glad we did. We love to walk....and walk we did. To Tha Pae gate (5 mins) Wararot (15 mins) Night Bazaar (20 mins). The hotel is down a lovely quiet laneway,... More

This hotel was in an excellent location, right next to the old town. The room was spacious and nicely decorated, the staff were all friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good. Although there are cheaper hotels in chiang mai, the price is very affordable compared with UK prices. A couple of issues were that our bath did not... More

We stayed in a grand deluxe room so this review relates to that level room. For our first few nights at chiang mai we selected this hotel and paid that bit extra because we wanted to be confident we had a quality hotel... De chai didnt dissapoint, it is exactly that, a quality hotel. Spacious room with a great bathroom.... More

This is my second night in this hotel and I love it! It's on a quiet street, which is important since I'm a light sleeper, with a beautiful room. You get free water to drink, the laundry service is VERY reasonable and they helped me find a good tattoo shop. :) The taxi guys know it too, which is helpful!!!... More
