Great location, delicious breakfast, clean shared toilets with a pyramid of toilet paper outside, and very friendly and THOUGHTFUL staff. Got us a discount on an elephant tour and helped us deal with an issue we had. Thank you very much to the owner and manager and sorry for the inconvenience.

My girlfriend and I spend 4 nights in Finlays Cottage. The rooms are comfy and extraordinarily clean with good AC. The cleanliness in general has a high priority here so that you can walk around barefoot in the shared showers and toilets. But what makes it so extraordinary here is the staff Keith and Raree. They are so helpful with... More

Staff is so friendly and they don't play scams to tourists. If you have interest in going to some adventures, let them know and they will make the calls and set everything up. They will tell you how much it'll cost and when the bus will be picking you up. BREAKFAST IS AMAZING there..... The main lady will greet you... More

Very central location, decent breakfast included in the price. Everything was great, including Finlay himself (I actually think his name is Keith) who was very helpful and Ratree who organised a day trek for us for a supposed discount (all hostels do this). The one thing I would complain about is that they desperately need new towels, they smell of... More

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay here but I am concerned with your comments about our towels which are always freshly laundered. If you had said something to me at the time we could have dealt with your complaint. This is the first time any of our guests have had this problem since we've been open so I am surprised.... More

Such a fantastic guesthouse. Nice air conditioned rooms, comfiest bed we've had in Thailand so far, fantastic breakfast, clean communal bathrooms, and friendly owners. The communal breakfast area and layout of the rooms also meant we got to know all the other guests which made for a fun and sociable stay. It's also fantastic value with a central location just... I stayed at Finlay's Cottage towards the end of my 2 month journey around S.E Asia and can say it was probably my favourite guesthouse of my trip. If your looking to party this isn't the place but if you want extremely helpful and accommodating hosts, great location tucked away in a quiet side street, and comfortable rooms then Finlay's... Finlay's Guesthouse is really good guesthouse in a quiet area close to Tha Pae Gate. We were looked after really well by Rawtree and Keith who helped us to enjoy a good few days in Chiang Mai. A very welcoming couple helping us with directions and timings of walks to the excellent Waroot market and night bazaar (Nancy Chandler's Map... More

Close to the old city and the night market, but tucked away in a quiet corner, this place has the best possible location. The breakfasts are made to order any time between 8-11! Not to mention so delicious! Keith and Ratree are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful without being overbearing. Get a room downstairs because they're cooler.

Pros: - Great location - Best breakfast of my travels- an egg, 2 pieces of real bacon and tasty fresh bread or muesli - Rooms were airconned and beds were comfortable - The biggest pro: the couple really go out of their way to help you by organising all of our day excursions, making sure we were up in time... My stay here at Finlay's has been very enjoyable. The helpful advices of Keith, kindness of staff, and excellent location of the cottage has made my time in Chiang Mai a great pleasure. Keen to explore the spectacular surroundings via two wheels, Keith recomended renting a motorcycle at Tony's Big Bikes a few blocks down the road. Safe choice as... More
