BaanBooLoo is a very unique and wonderful experience. We normally go for 4* hotels but having read the many positive reviews about BaanBooLoo we thought we'd try a guesthouse experience. When we arrived at BaanBooLoo we were immediately given a warm welcome and we were impressed by the character of the place and the friendliness of the staff. Our room... More

We stayed in this lovely B&B for 6 nights for our first visit to Chaing Mai. We were travelling with two young kids and two grandparents so I was originally hesitant booking this type of place but the previous comments were so good I thought I would give it a try. Well the comments are true to their word. Great... More

Our second trip to Baan Boo Loo was as relaxing as the first two years ago. We booked the air open Lanna style villa and enjoyed the sounds of nature around us during the night. Chiang Mai is a very quiet city compared to other Asian cities, so you really feel like being in a rice field at night. The... More

This small, charming hotel is located in the heart of old town in Chiang Mai and the main temple is literally a stone's throw away. We visited Chiang Mai in March - one of the hottest months of the year, so it was just great to have the opportunity to return to the green coolness of the hotel, laze on... More

Fabulous Lana style architecture. Outdoor bath and shower. Very tranquil and cool. Gorgeous gentle, friendly and helpful hosts. Great choices for breakfast. Cats to cuddle. Hammocks to swing in and relax. A perfect choice in the middle of a hot and busy Chiang Mai.

My wife and I stayed here three weeks ago at the beginning of our two week Thailand travels. We could not have pick a better starting point. While being right in the heart of the old city Chaing Mai it was on a very quiet back alley so we had the best of both worlds; quiet relaxing rooms and a... More

we have just spent four nights at the Baa Boo Loo - should have been three but due to ilness had to stay an extra night. Equally, ilness prevented my enjoying what I should have been enjoying in Chiang Mai but even with that experience, I can honestly say this is one of the best places I have stayed in... More

We were fortunate to book four nights with our two young boys at this beautiful oasis in Chiang Mai. This was the begining of our six week trip to Thailand and a what a wonderful place to start. We were instantly made to feel very welcome as soon as we entered the gates of this enchanting place. Great traditional wooden... More

The best thing BaanBooLoo has going for it is the nice people who work there and, of course, it's proximity to the night market. It's close enough that you can shop, drop your stuff off in your room, and go back out! However, if you like a quiet room, this is not the place. During the day, there is lots... More

Dear Guest Many thanks for reviewing BaanBooLOo and your kind comment about our people. We are sorry if any noises interrupted your stay during the day. However, just to highlight : there is and has been no building work going on at BaanBooLOo for a year nearly. The noise is from neighbours about 150 metres and further away from the... More

We stayed at this wonderful Thai guest house for 4 nights in January 2014. From the moment we arrived, we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay and we would have liked to stay much longer. We are a well travelled family with 4 teenage kids having stayed at a wide range of accommodation options, from self catering houses to... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
A Thai traditional teak house - a rare luxury in the centre of a big city such as Chiang Mai. Comprising adjacent small villas and relaxing gardens; BaanBooLOo acts as a guesthouse or can be booked as a private holiday home from 1 to approx 22 guests and has hosted wonderful wedding celebrations as well as many honeymoons. A unique residence, resplendent and charming on 3.5M high stilts and hidden right in the heart of an unspoiled local community in the ancient moat city of Chiang Mai old city; BaanBooLOo is surrounded by temples and authentic Thai life, with great balconies and a tropical herb garden - dragonflies - butterflies - chameleons - frogs - tropical flora. This is truly the place to experience Thai home life at its best without a formal hotel atmosphere but close to major tourist highlights in Chiang Mai and a couple minutes walk to the world famous Sunday Walking Street Market - but far enough away from the noise of the main Night Market on the other side of town. We would ideally like all visitors to be immersed in Thai culture and life whilst you of course also enjoy your privacy at BaanBooLOo. Please note that this is not a luxury 5 star accommodation, nor is it a hotel in the classical sense. This is a Thai rustic chic farmer style; lots of chunky wood, Thai fabrics and furnishings, fresh air in a big city, quality food, ambiance and attentive hosts offering family style welcome. Guests are invited to mingle at breakfast, dinner etc. There are cats and chickens in the farm like gardens. Please read some reviews to get a good idea before booking. ... more   less
