If you are looking for a clean and budget place to stay, Penny's place will be a good choice. Although it is not located in the down town but close to Maya Department and Centeral World. Also easy to access to Niamman road where has lots of attrative shops running by local artists. Besides, the lady owner can help with... More

I spent my first month of my 3 month Asia trip living in Chiang Mai and working at a church down the road from this place. I rented a room for a month, with my own TV, Fridge, Aircon & Bathroom for around $120 Aus + Electricity cost me maybe $50 for the month (you pay that separately so if... More

I put many groups in this boutique hotel as it is so close to our office. The groups are always amazed by the cleanliness and the price. It is well maintained and they are great at organising trips and drivers at very short notice. Stephanie the owners daughter in law speaks excellent English and Chinese and is very willing and... Charles and I stayed here for 5 nights. The room was perfectly fine, but what made our stay extra special was Stephanie, the owner's daughter-in law. She helped us, advised us, & looked after us, including making sure we were fed and got our laundry done. She made special arrangements on very short notice so that we could go to... More

Many apartments in Chiang Mai also double up as hotels/guesthouses. Penny's Place is no exception, and they do a great job. This review concerns mainly the apartment aspect of the building. A month here costs a very reasonable 5300 baht, less than US $180. It gets you a clean room with solid wood furniture (as opposed to cheap plastic stuff... More

This guesthouse occupies a lowrise building that could be mistaken for a small apartment block. It is on a road that is primarily residential and is not oriented towards tourists. It is however quite close (walk in ten minutes or so) to the shopping/entertainment areas on Thanon Huay Kaew and Thanon Nimman. It is further from the old town and... More

Staff helpful but bathrooms are out on the verandah so you have to open the door go outside into the bathroom. When door is open then all the mosquitoes come in. Across the road is a lady who washed your hair and blowdrys it straight for only 80 bht she does a great job so we always tipped her she... More

Very spacious clean rooms with TV and very nice and helpful staff. Free tea and coffee available in reception. The bathroom is accessed via the balcony which I wasn't too keen on but was clean, a good size and perfectly functional. However the location was a bit too far out from the centre for me. It was walkable but took... More
