i was in Chiang Mai during Songkran so Daret's House was a perfect hang out as it was on the main road. The service & food are ok but could be better. I was in a twin room & it was very hot, even with the fan on full so I ended up swapping hostels. The shower was more like... More

The rooms in Daret's Guesthouse are very cheap, but they are not particularly well looked after. The mosquito netting covering one of the odd holes in the wall had come away and they had tried to stick it back using a plaster - to no effect. The cleanliness of the rooms wasn't perfect. For the price though, having a private... More

Yeah OK, it's not the best place I've stayed at but if you're looking for budget and a base to work from, this is the place. It's basic and very no frills but at 270 baht for a twin bed fan room, you can't argue. I've not stayed anywhere cheaper than this in the time I've been travelling. If noise is... More

This place is fine, inexpensive and in a very good location. The restaurant downstairs is lively and is located across the street from the Sunday, central night market and city wall/moat. I would recommend this place to a friend.

I lived in CM for a few months, and ate at Daret's on a regular basis, as it was both convenient and some of the best food in the city. I cannot say anything about the accommodation as i lived elsewhere. The restaurant menu is varied, and extremely good value, no tourist ripoff prices here, despite the prime setting right by... More

Walked past about a hundred places in an undecisive manner before just settling for Daret's. We ordered Thai food - stir-fried pork with garlic, tom yum soup, stir-fried kale and spicy glass noodle salad. All were very good - maybe the soup was a teeny bit sweet but certainly nothing to complain about and we finished it all. The beer... More

I stayed here for 5 nights, so I got a slight discount at 150 B a night. I had a bed, a desk and a bathroom. The end of the toilet was about 4 inches away from the wall so that was a problem. The shower wasn't bad, but there is no way nice could be associated with the rooms.... More

I needed a place for a night before going to Sukhothai. Had a single room for 160 bath with a bathroom. There was little water pressure. There was no blanket - only old curtains when i realize later. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything. I mean everything from loud sex to crazy drunk people all night.... More

One of the worst place I ever been in Thailand since the owner change. I know the place before and after the change and really it is a terrible place to be. The food is bad the room without windows are bad and dirty and the new lady in the place is very unpleasant. I wonder when all this tour... More

I recently spent the afternoon in downtown Chiang Mai with my family. We were tired and hot, and we just wanted to get some simple Thai food at the nearest place. The Daret Guesthouse doesn't look that pleasant from the outside, but often in Thailand the ugliest looking places serve the best authentic Thai food. No such luck at this... More
