The place has seen better times. It was a good place to sit in the garden resturant and have a drink. Its still ok for breakfast, but the quality of the food has really gone down and the prices up. The beef salad was some of the worst dish I ever had in Thailand. There is much much better food... More

I stayed at daret's for 4 nights. When I called to make a reservation a few days ahead, I was told it was full. Fine. After I stayed somewhere else, I called daret's, was told there was a twin room for 240b a night if I came over right away, although no single rooms (200b) available. I was like fine,... More

For what it is... It's really good value for money. I would definitely stay here again. We were here for new years which was right at the main festival area so was perfect. Really cheap and food at the restaurant was good. A fair few local foreigners seemed to hang around the restaurant. Wifi was good. But yea the rooms... More

The rules are pretty stringent and stupid. You can stay here but don't expect to have fun here. Rule 7 indicates that there are thieves there. Rules 1, 2, & 9 mean you cannot offer hospitality to Thai locals. 10 & 11 are telling you that they don't care if you are inconvenienced due to their crappy accounting system. Overall... More

I came directly to this guest house after a long stop for dinner. Thai food and International offers a wide selection at low prices. With my friends we ate well, good and warm environment and a very strategic location right at the Thapae Gate in Chiang Mai town. After dinner I asked to see a room and very kindly they... More

Myself and my travel companion were looking for cheap places that were safe.. good location.. clean.. we found darets house with the help of a thai we asked on the street. Wifi is fab. Rooms are extremely basic. But what more do you want. Clean. Hot shower. Own bathroom. Would definitely recommend it

We came here and tried some of the western dishes. All were average. I had the pork snitzel which was good but the chips were very greasy which left the dish down. The service was also average as not very attentive and they all looked rather miserable.

The beef and oyster sauce at Daret is second to none as is the oven baked fried rice with pineapple. We frequently visit Daret when in Chiang Mai and recommend it highly to anyone passing through. It's located on the moat near Thapae Gate, just down from Starbucks and is a great vantage point from which to watch the happenings... More

My wife and I are staying here at the moment along with some friends (also a couple). I wanted to write a review now before I leave and don't get chance, the wifi is great too. We are on a budget and this place is a great price, after visiting 20+ other GH, hostels and hotels this place had the... More

Did not stay here but ate on a couple of occasions whilst in Chiang Mai. The prices are cheap and food is of a fine quality, not spectacular but solid cooking. Overall for the price a good meal. All the noodle dishes were good.
