We stayed 8 nights at the Smith residence and found it really enjoyable. It is situated outside the walled city, but it is easy access to everything. We walked to all the places we wanted to go to in chiang mai itself and hired scooters through the hotel for everything that was further afield. The room was spotless, simple yet... More

I booked a deluxe room and was quite happy with what I got for a reasonable price at good location. Room is not big, not small just normal hotel room size. Didn't need AC for sleeping as temperatures are now quite cold at night. Wifi in the room was fine. On the roof top terrace you can find a (very)... More

This is good clean basic accommodation. There is a swimming pool on the roof, a restaurant on the ground floor and a laundry. The rooms have all the facilities you need including the vital aircon and room safe for valuables. Many of the staff on reception spoke commendably good English. There were just a couple of minor inconveniences: the light... More

We stayed at Smith residence for a total of three nights in two different dates. We knew the Smith residence is a simple hotel and stayed there because it was recommended to us by a friend. We didn't have great expectations but only wanted a clean room to sleep between motorbike tours during the day. Smith residence did not wrote... More

Located near the ChiangMai gate, this location was great. Can walk to market and several small bakeries and restaurants nearby. Getting taxi or red truck or tuk-tuk not a problem - if not at hotel, then short walk to major street. Furnishings are basic but clean. Note: no soaps, shampoos, toilet paper, etc. but there are a couple of 7-11s... More

Overall the hotel served it's purpose. It was clean it was centrally located and the price was right. When we first got there we were disappointed that if you wanted a hand towel you had to pay extra. If you wanted wifi they charged you per day or per week. But it was still cheap enough that the value was... More

We stayed here for just over 2 months and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is immaculately cleaned, there is always some cleaning or maintenance going on. We met so many lovely people there from all over the world. The swimming pool and gym on the roof top was great, as was the food from the restaurant and room service. We... More

Only stayed one night , a Saturday so the walking street market was literally next door! Close to lots of food and attractions. As a solo traveller it sometimes irks me that properties don't offer discount for singles, however the rate here is very reasonable although breakfast is not included.

Stayed here for two months. The room was great, spacious with a view out over Chiang Mai and the sunset. The bed was comfortable slightly firm but thats the norm for SEA. Television had a fair few english channels and room also had a microwave but no kettle which was a bit of a shame. Bathroom was a good size... More

The Smith is located minutes walk from night markets, food markets, the old city and the rooms are very clean and of a decent size. Front desk are a touch un excited and need to crack a smile every once in a while to make you feel more welcome to be there but really that's not a reason to boycott... More
