First off, I am not usually one to write reviews but this place deserves the praises. From the amazing family that runs the hostel, to the resident rooster that is roaming the grounds, Gongkaew became like a second home to my friends and I and we will truly miss it. It is quite possibly the cleanest hostel that I have... More

A friend and I arrived here after a long bus ride from Bangkok and we were able to check in early free of charge. The place is huge with an awesome common area outside (which is lacking in most places more central). Bathrooms were kept clean and well stocked with toilet paper and the showers actually got hot. It definitely... More

I had booked into another place that was actually full when I arrived and they had suggested I come here. I was spacious and very clean with nice helpful staff. In found the atmosphere to be less communal than other hostels.

This hostel was fine...not great, not terrible, just ok. The property is nicely wooded and is a good change from being on a city block, but I didn't like that the toilets and showers were not in the same building, so to speak, as the rooms or that they were not very clean. It is also not in a very... More

I stayed here as a solo backpacker, and loved it. The owners are so caring & helpful, and are very passionate about the place which makes a massive difference. Dorm Rooms are basic, but clean. The hostel has a central garden which has hammocks, beds etc...a great place to meet other travellers. Free toast, coffee & tea is provided all... More

Nothing bad to say about this place. Dorm rooms and bathrooms are very clean and seem like it's quite new. They were just paving the reception area. It has a big garden and it's in a quiet neighbourhood, so great location if you want to escape from the busy streets. In the common area they provide free coffee, tea and... More

I loved this place so much, that I ended up staying here 3 times. The garden is lovely, with chairs and couches everywhere, making it an extremely nice place to hang out. Areas are clean, and especially the staff is superfriendly. And free toast, coffee and tea! Concerning location: the hostel is not located in the 'busy' part of town,... More

We stayed at Gongkaeq Chiangmai Home for several nights before heading to Pai. The hostel has a lovely atmosphere, with the dorm buildings and private rooms arranged like little houses around the garden. There is lots of seating outside under an open-roofed area, and I loved the big comfy cushions and hearing the geckos and frogs at night whilst sitting... More

This place is very nice, beautiful outdoor area with great wifi and the staff are very helpful, didn't overcharge with bookings and always answer any questions. Rooms were clean as we're bathrooms. Nice and quiet and in the centre of town!!
