My partner and I travelled to Chiang Mai for four days in June 2009. We were met at the train station by Mr Kem from the Vanilla Place Guest House, who drove us to the hotel at no cost. Mr Kem and his wife Kat really made us feel at home with their warm hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble... More

Recently stayed two nights at the Vanilla Place, with the owner s being the most helpful and pleasant hosts imaginable. From picking us up at the airport, to organising a cheap day trip for us, they both made our trip enjoyable. Breakfast is fruit, sticky rice, toast, and coffee or tea. The rooms are basic, but tidy, clean, and very good... More

A friendly couple run this small guest house not far fron the old city gates of Chaing Mai (15 minute walk) and the night markets (5 minutes walk). The service is surprisingly warm and genuine. If you don't like stairs try and get a room on the lower floor (2nd). The rooms come in 2 styles, superior with window and... More

All the reviews are right: the couple that runs the place are outstanding hosts. Kem and his wife are very devoted to provide a honest and helpful service. We definitely enjoyed our stay there. You might find cheaper guesthouses elsewhere, but the service at the Vanilla Place is well worth the extra few bath...not the least to say that 28$CAN... More

Upon arrival at the train station we were greeted by the owner, Kem, and given a lift back to the hotel. Both he and his wife made the stay a real pleasure. The hotel itself is nothing special, but is nice and clean, and good value for the price. The location is right by the night market and a short... More

We spent 3 days in the Vanilla Place Guesthouse in May 2009, and it will stay as one of our best surprise! The rooms were really nice (avoid the ones giving on the main street) and the beds so comfortables ! This guesthouse is really well based, near all night markets. But the must of this place is the owners,... More

I have just returned from my trip to Thailand, and I spent the last three nights at Vanilla Place in Chiang Mai. I can honestly say it was the best place I stayed in Thailand. The room was very spacious, spotlessly clean, air-con and television, and private bathroom came as standard. The room was cleaned every day (they made the... More

Myself and my family stayed there for 3 nights late March. I totally agree with all the previous positive reviews of this place. OK, it is not a 5 star hotel, room we got was rather simple, bathroom could be a bit bigger, but it is clean, comfortable enough to accomodate a family with an infant. Not mentioning very good... My wife and I enjoyed this guest house very much. Rooms are very clean. A light breakfast is served in the morning and free bottled water whenever you want. They also have a computer with internet available. The owner will pick you up and drop you off at the airport. He will also help with phone calls or setting up... More

We stayed at Vanilla Place for 4 nights in April. We were greeted at the airport and taken directly to the guest house. On arrival we were met by Kem (the owner) who was extremely welcoming and made us feel at home. On discussing our intended plans for the 4 days, we were given a detailed itinerary with directions and... More
