When I first came to Chiang Mai this was the guest house I picked out to stay at. I considered it's location as ideal , being so near to Thae Pae Gate and the Sunday Market walking Street - Ratchadamnern Road. The accommodation is basic, homely, affordable and clean. What more could you need when you spend most of your... More

The staff was helpful and the guesthouse is located in the old city. The rooms are not the best, a little bit old-fashionned, but they worth the price. We stayed there 1 night before a trek and came back after at the same place (but we didn't take their trek so we don't know their quality).

Very simple room but one of the cheapest guesthouses (400-500thb/night) with private shower in the old town of Chiang Mai. Rachadamnoen Rd (also known as the Sunday Walking Street) is the main road in the old city and Ban Wiang is just a 2 minutes walking from there at Thapae Gate.

Very clean, the room had windows and balcony with mosquito net (youre gonna need it), private bathroom with hotshower. Very quite to sleep too! Its not exactly charming but to stay the night and plan activities its great ( you can book everything from here and thenstaff will help you choose). The staff is really friendly! Ideal for couple backpackers... More

Hi all! I was glad when I've found this place in the center of Chiang Mai... Rooms are clean and comfy - the air con was new and very silent, bed was wide and long enough and the window had mosquito net on it. Hotel personnel was very pleasant and friendly. Also they have very good trip bureau: I had... More

The greatest thing about Ban wiang is that it is quiet. To be in the midst of a busy area like the old city and to have this kind of quiet is food for my soul. i find the staff friendly and non intrusive. For me the best attractions in Chiang Mai are the old city, particularly this quadrant and... More

At first sight, we thought this was a good place for a short stay. The room is a decent size for only $500 baht per night, with a small balcony and good working AC. However our opinion changed for three reasons: a) we were provided one thin sheet and grubby blanket to sleep with. When we pulled back the sheet... More

Great place to stay! Staff are really helpful, held onto our bags and reserved a room for us while we went on a road trip for a week. Rooms are spotless, beds are comfy and rooms are a decent size. The location is very central, right next to walking street. I would recommend to anyone staying in Chaing Mai

For the year and a half I resided at Ban Wiang, I enjoyed the convenience of the location, cleanliness of the rooms and friendliness of the staff. For those in need of a basic room at budget prices, this is the place. The location is down a quiet little soi (lane) within walking distance from Thapae gate, Walking Street Market... More

We stumbled across this little gem when searching for somewhere to stay early one morning in July 2012. The staff went out of their way to make our trip enjoyable, suggesting excursions and booking taxis for our convenience. They were very knowledgeable about any excursions they did not have available and offered to make phone call enquiries on our behalf.... More
