I stayed here 5 years ago and remembered it being a pleasant place to stay. It's very basic but good value and I can't fault the staff. There were a fair few ants in my bathroom so I mentioned this to reception and the lady gave me some non-fragrant spray which sorted it out straight away. This didn't particularly bother... More

When I travel to Chiang Mai I always stay at Ban wiang Guest House. The room that I stay is simple but airy and spotless clean, with a small balcony and mosquito screens in the door and the windows, so I do not have mosquitos or any other insect visiting my room. The bed is firm and supportive just perfect for... More

Average guesthouse but in a good location. Rooms are not cleaned during your stay which isn't great especially if you stay a while. Owner is a bit extreme with the amount of signs up to say you can't do this or that! It's not bad to stay for a couple of nights.

I've slept in a lot of Asian guesthouses, and this bed was definitely harder than most. There was a funky smell, too, and my "view" was another building, about 2 feet away. Didn't get a good night's sleep at all, and checked out the next day.

I love this place. I have stayed here on several occasions. Mostly for a month or two. It's in the best location, near the Tha Pae Gate, where most of the festivities take place. It's also tucked away enough so it's peaceful throughout the day and night. What I also love about the Ban Wiang is the friendly and courteous... More

We always stay here when we come back to Chiang Mai. The staff are friendly and helpful, they also speak excellent English. It is based in a quiet street, inside the moat very close to Tha Phae Gate and many other amenities such as the Sunday Walking Street market (**the refurbishment works have now finished**). We stay in one of... More

I stayed at Ban Wiang for over a month and really enjoyed my stay! I felt I should leave a review, which isn't something I usually do, not just because I am very pleased with my experience here, but also in response to the last (negative) review. If you're of a paranoid disposition and stay up all night worrying about... More

I don't know where to start... We did a walk-in booking at this guesthouse, quickly looking at the double bed fan room which looked run down but ok for 2 nights & at a cheap price. The online reviews had mostly been positive especially about the location. But Then our nightmare began! The first night we went to go to... More

This is a fantastic place to stay, at great value in a great location. Metira is very welcoming. The location is excellent. You are literally just off the Sunday Walking Street and can walk anywhere in the old town. The night market is also an easy walk away. I stayed for a week in a basic but clean and comfortable... 2nd stay at this great guesthouse, both visits for approx 3 weeks each, very friendly staff, location is its biggest drawcard it's clean and has a nice social area and is very reasonably priced, I will definately be back. They now offer a breakfast/coffee service (which I didnt take advantage of) and motorcycle rental, if you were that way inclined... More
