Stayed here for two nights while completing a short trip round Thailand. The location is outwith the old city but easily accessible by walking (10 mins) or tuktuk. Easy transport from Airport (20 mins). On arrival our host sat us down and explained everything we would need to know about about our stay. We were given colour coded maps of... More

Banilah was definitely our favourite place we have stayed in the five weeks we have spent travelling SEA, a real home away from home. Op, the owner, was a wonderfully helpful host with great knowledge of the local area. Yes, it isn't in the centre of town but that turns out to be a real plus as its like a... More

In a great spot of Chiang Mai away from the old city and hoards of tourists, this guest house was the perfect place to discover a more authentic Chiang Mai. With spunky and very helpful staff, great food and activity recommendations, and at a great price, I wish we could have stayed longer. Only drawbacks-- hard mattresses and the cafe... More

My boyfriend and I stayed here in March 2014 as we were passing through while travelling through South East Asia. We loved our stay here, the staff were so friendly and made us feel right at home. They even went out of their way to help us. I was driven to the station on the back of the one ladies... More

After 7 months of travelling around south east Asia i can easily say that this place goes down as one of my favourite places on this trip. Im a budget solo traveller and have stayed in dorms and below standard rooms that were way more expensive than Banillah. I stayed here for a week, went to pai and then came... More

I have been travelling for 5 months around the world and this is by far the best hostel I have stayed at. Lovely clean big rooms with super fast wifi, staff are extremely helpful and the location is in an ideal position. I would highly recommend this place!

The staff at Banilah is the most friendly people I've met in Thailand (and that's saying something). The owner(?) sat me down as soon as I came in, pulled out three maps and a rainbow array of highlighter colors, and gave me a very extensive rundown of the sites I have to go see, places to get massages for a... The staff are very friendly and cute. They gave us multiple maps of Chiang Mai and introduced us all good foods, shops and even massages. They suggested us several activities for us, very helpful. We are so thankful for the introduction. The coffee shop(also is their office) is so lovely and full of CATS! We love cats so much so... More

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Having said that, there is no point in spending 20 USD (which entitles you to a very good accommodation, I have spent here one year and I know it). In brief: - extremely small room, with no space. Clean but not well maintained. Dark as the window is facing a court with no... More

I found the staff to be very kind, happy and very very helpful. You arrive and are given a very refreshing drink and an informative chat about all the best places to eat and the best things to do. They were also always happy to ring and were helpful in organising all of our tours. Internet is plentiful and the... More
