We have spent about four weeks time at this hostel during multiple visits. Our most recent visit was in April of this year. We love the ladies here and they keep us coming back. They will have you laughing and are there to help you make the best of your stay. They even went so far as to bring us... More

My favourite hostel so far! Rooms were clean and well maintained, and cleaned everyday! There is an ensuite on the balcony. The staff are incredible, so helpful and polite, any issues or questions and they'll help you out - where to eat, what to do, booking tours for you, making sure the taxis don't rip you off etc. Great! We... More

Banilah is on the northern side of Chiang Mai. The area feels very local and cheap compared to places at the old town. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Outside bathroom is not a problem especially if you are on the top floors. As a female solo traveller I can understand that for some it may not feel so safe... More

After a few years between visits I returned to Banilah after a conference in Chiang Mai. I have stayed here many times in the past and when I arrived I was greeted as an old friend. The staff at Banilah are always welcoming and helpful. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to get out of the tourist noise of Chiang... More

I stayed here with my partner as he was preparing for 2 months in Chiang Mai, and we loved it! Simple, sweet, not absolutely central, but accessible to everything, modestly priced, and run by the most beautiful, brilliant and energetically helpful woman I have ever met. Strongly recommend for a more natural, authentic Thai experience!!

4 of us (2 couples) planned to stay at Banilah for 3 nights in between our venture from Bangkok to Laos. We decided to stay an extra 2 nights and skip Laos altogether because we felt so comfortable here. For the price we paid for the a/c room (~22 Canadian) we got more than enough. The girls were extremely helpful... More

I really wanted to like Banilah but it didn't live up to the reviews. The staff was great- they greeted me with cold tea and sat me down with 3 different maps outlining the area in great detail. The first night I stayed in a fan room- But it was so unbearably hot I had to switch after one night.... More

Banilah is quiet far from the old walled city. Which means you have to rent a motorbike or taxi your way to the most popular areas. The motel is located in very poor area which is not too clean. There are not many good restaurants around the motel. so you have to take a taxi to find restaurants. The price... More

Once we arrived at Banilah we were greeted warmly by the two ladies on reception (I forget your names, sorry!) and were given an extremely thorough briefing of places of interest in Chang Mai. Our room was immaculate and we were given water and lollipops on our bed. We also booked a bus to Pai for the next day but... More
