We loved the Shanghai Mansion and Chinatown. All the guidebooks said we'd be way to far away to see any of the top sights, but that was simply untrue: we walked practically everywhere with hardly any trouble. The decor of the hotel was fabulous even if there were't any windows in the room. The complimentary breakfast was hearty and the... More

This hotel is well worth the money! We booked last minute and got a really good rate with breakfast included. The staff were helpful and the room had everything you could possibly need. I loved the little decorative touches in the room and thought the indoor fish pond was really lovely! Breakfast was adequate, but did lack choice, Over all... More

This hotel is beautiful and has a nice spa. It's also in the heart of China Town in Bangkok. China Town is exciting (if not a little overwhelming for the western tourist). This is not a "cheap" hotel, but is consistent with the prices of other nice hotels in Bangkok.

Shanghai Mansion is one of the most amazing hotels my girlfriend and I have ever stayed in. A lush, dimly lit island of sanity away from the chaos and smog of Bangkok's Chinatown raging outside, the hotel's interior will make you feel like you walked onto a carefully crafted movie set designed from the dreams of Bernardo Bertolucci and David... We stayed in Shanghai Mansion for 3 nights and since we liked it so much we booked it for our last night in thailand... 2 weeks after. The satff was impecable, and we left part of our lugagge there for 2 whole weeks, free of charge. The room was really something, incredible confortable bed, spotlessly clean bathroom, all in a... I've spent 3 nights in Shangai Mansion by the end of November. Rooms have a very cool decoration and the staff is extremely friendly. Also very well located, in the heart of Chinatown, near the subway (10min walk).

I stopped at the Shanghai Mansion for five nights en route from New Zealand to UK. It cost approximately £50 pn BB which I felt was very good value. The rooms are decorated as typical of chinese merchants' homes with very large canopied beds and loys of lanterns. The shower is also large and decorated with lanterns and a birdcage.... More

We stayed here for a few days of our honeymoon in the Mu Dan-Peony Classic Suite. The pictures looked great, but the room was far better! I’d strongly recommend this suite if it is within your budget. Very tastefully decorated, huge, and designed for romance with a tub for two! It is a good choice for people with eclectic tastes... Has free wifi!!!! and only place that had free stuff in fridge for us. It was cool for a night or 2 but otherwise I'm not sure. Very small rooms, and dim lighting in hallways and rooms. Breakfast had 4 choices, Asain, Westerner, fit, and pancakes. so very limited. I only stayed 1 night to try it out, and prolly... More

The staff was always friendly and helpful, always ready to accomodate your needs. It was quiet even though it was in the middle of Chinatown.
