Sure, the Chinois decor is overdone but it makes for a fun and unique experience without coming off as tacky. The Superior rooms are comfortable and nicely appointed, great showers. The suites are big with with huge bathrooms. The suites in the front of the hotel are even bigger, but the several large windows emit a moderate amount of street... more

Formerly, the Shanghai Inn, this hotel is literally in the HEART of China Town. Good Chinese restaurant right across the street from the hotel, which my wife and I ate at 3 times! :) Staff was friendly and helpful. When we were there in Feb 2009 they were already undergoing renovations, but reading some of the more recent reviews, looks... more

Beautiful place and great location! The hotel is slight boutique and backpackers. has simple cambodia decor is fantastic and the bedding is high quality. night market is just a stone throw away with good street food nearby and transportation cost is relatively cheap as its near town area. boo point is no swimming pool =( and the long check in... more

Shanghai Mansion is such a delicate hotel and the whole atmosphere is fantastic. I particularly enjoyed my 3 nights at the hotel as it is my first time in Asia and I wasn't sure what to expect. But I was admiringly surprised by the ambience with the lounge music throughout the hotel, the staff always so smiling and ready to... more

Location was great, in the centre of Chinatown with loads of great places to eat nearby (so long as you don't mind sitting in the street amongst the petrol fumes... but that's all part of the experience). Staff very friendly with excellent English, room was beautifully decorated and breakfast was simple but delicious (we had omelettes and fresh fruit). Only... more

We booked the Shanghai thinking it was a cute quirky hotel- which is totally our speed. However, we were disappointed to find that the hotel is undergoing extensive renovations. We had to walk through a grocery store to get to the hotel- weird right? We paid excess for a Spa Package. When we arrived they told us that the spa... more

We stayed here over Christmas 2008 before travelling onward throughout South East Asia. The rooms are very brightly decorated in a sort of chinoiserie hotel, but there are no views from the windows, as they are stainglass, don't open and you wouldn't really want to let all the pollution in anyway. I quite liked the birdcages hanging in the bathroom... more

From the wallpaper to the dodgy fake birds in the bathroom, this hotel really is a bot of a joke! Sure, the price was good, but thats only because everyone who stays here prob wont do so again! Also there is the small issue of builders working away downstairs. The website is misleading more

We booked a room at the Shanghai Mansion (former Shanghai Inn) on our way back from Phuket, heading to Paris the next day. Currently being renovated, most part of the hotel was actually closed which is a pity as the decoration is really nice. I would have loved to drink a good cocktail with my girlfriend, sitting on a leather... more
