I've stayed at a few places in Bangkok and the Shanti Lodge is the only one to which I've ever returned. The food is fabulous, the staff is super-helpful, and the rooms are comfy. The Shanti has a variety of rooms available, ranging from rooms with no AC and a shared bathroom to ones with AC and en-suite toilets. I... More

This place is really cute and cozy with a unique vibe and I really enjoyed it because of that. But there is a serious problem on the ground level with mosquitoes - there are so many of them. Whether I was in the lounge area or in the bathroom, I could literally see three or four of them swarming around... More

This place has a great vibe, with lots of plants in the entry that make a little oasis in the midst of crazy Bangkok. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable, the restaurant lovely with decent prices. My room was tiny and a little dark but cheap and clean. I'd go back again.

My partner and I stayed at the shanti lodge two years ago for only one night and had to return! We stayed here 4 nights and like always it was great! The food in the restaurant is reasonably priced and amazing. They have unlimited options for vegetarian/ vegans which was a bonus for me! Make sure to call a week... More

We were 12 people for 3 nights and we do not recommend this place. Owners have no sense of service and would get pissed when we ask for airport direction for instance. Only two showers for 40 people and you have to get through the restaurant to use them. Only one toilet shared with the clients of the restaurant (so... More

I am sure that someone can tell that there is plenty of places to feel pure Bangkok, but i can't imagine me without Shanti visiting. I always stay nearby and love having breakfast here. Authentic ambience, nice staff, good food. Try local musli or porridge - it is just the way it must be) Atmosphere is just right, design blows... More

It's the spiritual palace for yoga and Buddhism. You get the real Thailand feeling even taught being in one of the busiest cities in the world. It's the oasis in the middle of Bangkok. The location is good, about 15min taxi drive from the center. Don't pay more than 140baht for it. They might want to cheat if you're white.... More

I arrived here after traveling for 36 straight hours. You walk in and it is filled with trees and plants, which is extremely nice after the busy, loud streets of Bangkok. The staff is really helpful and friendly, they gave me a lot of advice of places to visit in Thailand and the food is great. Highly recommend the island... More

I mainly ate here since I lived nearby at Sri-Ayuttaya. It had a lovely open spot to sit and have a meal. It was a busy place. Nice atmosphere. The food was good. I would recommend it for a gathering of friends.

Staying in Dusit

Neighborhood Profile
Dusit
When wandering around the Dusit Palace grounds, you'd almost forget you're still in a Southeast-Asian city. The Renaissance-style buildings and leafy gardens wouldn't be out of place in an European capital, and the serenity here is in stark contrast with the chaotic city life outside of its complex walls. Dusit is one of Bangkok's oldest districts, and while the rest of Bangkok is modernising at a rapid pace, Dusit seems to have stood the test of time. Come here to find family businesses in traditional shophouses, small-scale local markets and streets unfazed by modern city life.
