Unnoticed, discreet, elegant, and welcoming little getaway door to Bangkok. And a beautiful lady that welcomes you in her arms, in her beautiful bird's cage. We had reserved the rose suite. We arrived in Banglamphu exhausted from excruciating traffic combined with a 30 minute detour when our cabbie [allegedly] "got lost" trying to find the hotel. I've read all the review and seen the pictures, but the subtleness and the uniqueness of OBI still surprised me. I loved the indivually decorated rooms, loved the personal attentions from all the hotel staff. Loved the available breakfast items, and loved Tong who guided us through Bangkok as well. We only had two nights in Bangkok but the Old Bangkok Inn was a very good base for an exploration of the cities highlights. Good restaurants such as the 'Hemlocks' but also the grand palace and the wats along the river are within walking distance unless you are one of these lazy folks.
