The Shamabara is a nice little hostel with small rooms that contain a bed and no other furniture. We had an air-con room which was very small and dark for £11.50/night. However it was clean and the guesthouse is tidy and welcoming. The shared bathrooms were clean although the hot water wasn't working when we stayed there. Location is down a small alley just off Khao San.

Let's face it--Khao San Road is a gong show. Luckily, the Shambara's location is quietly tucked away in an alley, about a 30-second walk away. That 30 seconds makes a world of difference! The rooms are smallish, but they're comfortable and very clean. Bathrooms are shared, but there are enough showers and stalls.
