Rambuttri is a great little Street, favoured over the slightly more manic Koh San Road and still manages to be quite quaint. Situated a 5 minute walk from Koh San this hotel offers basic but clean rooms, and in the private bathrooms a very good hot shower. After 3 months in South east Asia this may be one of the... More

If you've not seen the film "The Beach" starring Leonardo DiCaprio then you have to watch it before arriving in Thailand! Anyway the single rooms with shared bathroom at this hostel are exactly like the ones at the start of the movie when he's in Bangkok. But smaller. Good to meet people though as I got the impression that the... More

Paid B420 for a tiny ac room on the top floor. Conveniently located, shoddy but relatively clean interior, gloomy hallways, no towels, ac worked fine, not too noisy despite hanging right over the street, little balcony adjacent good for a look down at the street. We moved to a nicer place after one night, but only because we were in... More

We found this guesthouse while we were looking for a room in Khao San area. Rambuttri area is much nicer and quieter, the room we got in New Merry V was simple, but clean. It offered more than the places in the are for the same money. We got a triple room on the third floor. The bathroom was clean... More

We have stayed here on different occasions and it is a reasonably good value given the price. The AC and private bathroom rooms are cheaper then others in the neighborhood. Some rooms are cleaner than others so it pays to look at a few. It often has rooms when other guesthouses are full.

In my six months in Thailand, I've stayed in some rough places, but this one was the worst, hands down. The price is cheap, but there are similar priced places in the area, of much better quality. My main complaint is the staff. They are so rude. They made you feel bad for asking simple questions. Our room had a... More

I'm not a complainer but have also traveled enough to find the good in a place... The rooms remind me of a prison room, the service staff made me feel guilty for asking simple questions, no free wifi, no breakfast, no delights. We stayed here out of pure exhaustion... And for that, it works. Still cost is 750 baht a... More

The first night in Bangkok we stayed at Erawan which is a totally competent place but at nearly twice the price and no view so we moved here the second night. Room 144 at Merry V is a gem, it has natural light and you can see some high rises as well as the cable bridge. Not bad for 420... More

Spent one night here. Wouldn't spend two. Wifi didn't work and for 60bht per day costs we had to persuade for our money back ten minutes after we paid for the wifi. Also, they don't tell you the wifi can only be used by one person at one time. Upon asking to see the room I was given a key... More

This place is cheap, no frills, close to the action and I recommend it if you don't want to spend more than you have to on a room in Bangkok. I will stay there each time I go through Bangkok en route to nicer places!
