First hotel for meeting our small group. Good start for sightseeing. Rooms old, must have had better days. Clean though. Breakfast large choice of all kinds a food. Reception staff correct. more

Royal Hotel is in a superb location when attending the kings birthday december. 5. When exiting the lobby you are in the middle of the party, and the streets around the hotel are closed and the road filled with party and people. 100 meter from the hotel is Sanam Luang which is the center of the celebration. But that is... more

The hotel is in a great location & has 'great bones'. However it has gone to seed. But the price reflects that it isn't what it once was or could be, so all is well. The rooms were okay - the traffic outside was VERY noisy. I'm not sure why taxis sit around all day when they're not even metered.... more

It's my second stay here as it's the starting point for Gap Adventures. And the adventure certainly starts with the hotel. It lives up to phrase 'you get what you pay for'. The rooms are certainly well worn with peeling paint, mould and self destructing furniture. Although the bedding was clean. Avoid rooms facing the road as the noise never... more

A touch of faded grandeur and not exactly 5*, but quite acceptable and in a great location to visit the old city. Also tremendous value for money. The Main Road side could be noisy, so it's worth asking for a room on the quiet side if lack of noise is important to you. Taxis a few yards down the road... more

Service is bad. Outside the hotel there are many taxi and tuk-tuk drivers trying to rip you off and when you ask the hotel staff to help you out they refuse. We also got charged for breakfast on our lastnight, when we have specifically requisted no breakfast as we had a very early flight. When we spoke to the manager... more

Judging by previous reviews I didnt expect much of this hotel - though I think my room was in the new wing, so maybe that's why. Rooms were decent size, had a bath tub, toiletries, quite nice buffet breakfast, dont know how much it was cos my tour started there though I would say it would be pretty reasonable. Would... more

We would've stayed near the sky train (close to Siam Square) if we would've known something about Bangkok beforehand. Still a decent hotel and pretty good value for your money. Tourist attractions were near. Lobby taxi drivers were annoying, but I guess they are in every hotel in Bangkok. more

I have stayed there several times, both alone and with friends. I was not looking for a fancy room, so it was just fine. The breakfast buffet was very nice--and there was plenty of it. I loved the fact that it was in the older, more historic part of town. In addition to the palace and university, I could easily... more

This hotel is good location to visit "Grand Palais" & Wat Phra & Wat Pho. Near Khao san road... At 2 minutes at walk. The room is standard, with bathroom. Try to choose the rooms with view pool, because side road, sometimes it's noisy. Good & cheap if you stay 4-5 days. more
