For the size and price it's not good. Rooms are fairly clean.. but very dated. Reception staff are rude and very unprofessional, gave us breakfast tickets then phoned up and asked for them back. No views unlike stated on bookings.com. WiFi does NOT work at all.. excuse was because they were busy.. but didn't even work at 3 am! No... More

Fantastic location. Close to all the best BKK action. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, the hotel has not been updated since I was first in BKK. I hope it will be, because it has so much potential. I personally love the ambience of the place. Karaoke in the bar is a hoot.

Clearly the Royal was once a much grander hotel, but these days it's showing its age a little more than it should. Rooms are basic but clean, no minibar or wifi in the rooms but there is a fridge. Sprung mattresses are firm, but the furniture in room has some miles on it. I'd recommend the Royal if you're on... More

This Royal hotel was located in the centre city of bangkok, close to attractive places for tourists such as grand palace, wat temple, chao phraya river etc. The hotel was in a very old building, and the room was arranged in a very old fashions. I was not feeling comfortable during my stay at this hotel. However, the breakfast was... More

Strongly recommend to anyone who would like to stay in Chinatown ! The hotel is clean , new, well maintained. The food serve in restaurant taste good too. Plus, the rooftop swimming pool has a nice view of bangkok town. The food stall just within the walking distance. Easy access to everything ! Very affordable , worth to stay !

Old building and decoration. Hall is usted to serve lunches to Chinese tourists. Reception people are not really kínd. No connection with public transport. No free wifi!. You must pay if you want to leave your luggage in the hotel for visiting the city after checking out. Close to Kao San road and royal palace.

This hotel is brilliantly situated if you want to see and do the main attractions in Bangkok. It is within walking distance from the palace, the main temples and the river. Kaosan Road is also just around the corner. It is easy to get any kind of transportation. It is a middle class hotel with good breakfast included. The rooms... More

We arrived the day before Songkran late at night and were able to get settled into our room quite quickly. We had a room facing the street with a balcony. We heard some noise the first night but then the next night it was a bit noisier. We didn't mind as we wanted to enjoy the sights and sounds of... More

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighborhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
