It's not a Hilton, a Hyatt, or a Sheraton but the Atlanta is a singular experience. The building retains the post-war charm it's famous for and you wouldn't be faulted for thinking you'd stepped from the heat on Soi 2 into the past. There's no room service but the rooms are clean and very reasonably priced - with and without... More

The Atlanta got recommended to me by a friend, so I pushed my luck and tried to get a room without reservation. I got lucky and had the pleasure to stay for 3 nights. The place feels like you are living in a Wes Anderson movie. It simply looks amazing. The staff is very friendly but strict when it comes... More

Travelling with my husband we chose the Atlanta based on an article in a newspaper travel lift out. It is a step back in time, with a magnificent Art Deco foyer, restaurant and staircase and the first hotel pool built in Bangkok. The service is delightful however beware they hold old world values and no "funny business" will be tolerated.... More

I have stayed here many many times over the past thirty years and I could wax lyrical for too long about this gem of a hostelry. Quite simply, this is one of THE very best, small, independently owned, incredibly modestly priced hotels, WITH a pool PLUS a fantastic and cheap restaurant, IN THE ENTIRE WORLD ! Andrew Bruce, Dumfries &... More

Coming from my Myanmar´s R&R I was just looking for a Hotel with a large swimming pool, so I had no big expectations at all. But at just stepping on The Atlanta Hotel´s entrance hall I already felt something cool was about to happen: a cat and a dog were waiting me side by side patiently to open the door,... More

In the center of Sukimvit and close to the skytrain. Be aware of the houserules, not a playground for children. Nice place for a Bankok visit and suits both couples and single travellers. Budget rooms with the most comfortable beds we have slept in during our stays in Thailand. The pool in a quiet and relaxing area and the restaurant... More

Atlanta is a old time favorite, if you do not need any luxury, but a decent place to sleep this is the place! Bed's and sheets are clean. Restaurant is good and the Thai personell are winderful and very helpful. Wifi is there, but sometimes quality and speed of the wifi are not up to standard but hey you're on... More

Everything has been said about the hotel. Glorious, famous, great. And it is. Rooms are small and a bit warm but very clean. But the staff is amazing, they really care. Due to my own fault we were cheated by a taxidriver who got 5000 baht instead of 500 from us. They really did there utmost to help us. Thanks... More

The saying, "You get what you pay for" can by used multiple times when you stay at The Atlanta. When coming into our room, I was very quickly disappointed by what "Special Original Classic 1950's Themed Room" was. This actually meant that they haven't updated since 1950. The bathroom especially showed its age, with pink tiles (again, fine, I got... More

I have been going back to the Atlanta for over 10 years and I still love this quirky, unique gem of a place in the heart of Bangkok. It's still like time stands still there, nothing changes...the amazing lobby that's straight out of a 40's movie, the grumpy anti-sex tourist messages and posters everywhere, and even the staff! Yes the... More

Staying in Sukhumvit

Neighborhood Profile
Sukhumvit
With a mix of shopping malls, hip bars and food stalls lining both sides of Thailand’s longest road, you’ll rarely encounter a dull moment along Sukhumvit. While the main road itself doesn't offer a lot in terms of entertainment, it's the adjoining 'sois' (alleys) where the magic happens. Popular spots are soi 11 for a lively night out, soi 4 for naughty nightlife and soi 21 for world-class shopping at Terminal 21. It's hard to cover everything this area has to offer in on day, so be sure to take your time. Sukhumvit is heavily congested with traffic during day and night, so getting from A to B is most convenient using the BTS Skytrain right above it.
