I have been to Thailand many times and in Bangkok 6 times since 1994. This time I decided to try the Atlanta Hotel and discovered that it's not worthing. What I liked is the general atmosphere, the restaurant (which provides delicious thai food) and the lobby with its old charm; BUT the rest of the place shows its age and... more

I would easily recommend the Atlanta hotel to anyone visiting Thailand. The building itself has so much art deco character that has been preserved. The staff are friendly. The food at the in-house restaurant is delcious and inexpensive. Hotel rates are reasonable. The Atlanta has a wonderful location - near a Sky train stop and in a safe neighborhood. I... more

We stayed two nights at the Atlanta and enjoyed our stay. It was nice knowing that they don't allow sex tourists at their hotel and that we wouldn't have to deal with the type of people that pursue such illegal activity, especially considering that the area is a bit seedy. They have a huge sign out front that says, "Sex... more

We arrived in Bangkok on Christmas day morning, and got a taxi to the Atlanta. What a quirky, fun, beautiful hotel. There is certainly a theme running through the lobby and dining room, that the hotel is very much still part of Bangkok 1950's! We loved it, the room we booked was on the A floor, the most expensive level,... more

The Atlanta has certainly seen better days and the rooms could do with some work, but it's still worth staying for the fantastic Shining-esque lobby and quirky atmosphere. The area's a bit sleazy, the staff are considerably less attentive than most Thais, but it's very cheap and much more of an experience than staying at some overpriced generic chain. If... more

(This is a review of the restaurant only.) Atlanta Hotel's restaurant was recommended to us in passing and we thought their staunch policy of refusing service to anyone sounded like an interesting challenge. After a brief once-over, we were "accepted" into their dining hall for a pricey and very boring breakfast. The hotel itself was not much of an attraction,... more

I have been to Thailand 8 times, stayed at Atlanta twice before. Built in 1952, the place shows its age, and has needed a major upgrade for years! Today we are leaving our room at the Atlanta, for a better place on Khao San Road. Here, we can't adjust our a/c because the control is broken, there is no cover... more

I now regret not paying heed to the Trip Advisors warnings > about the negative management Atlanta Hotel. As a guest there in January 08, I noted that there is a double standard for the rules regarding hotel clients inviting guests to the restaurant or the pool. The management permits some guests and turns away others. A monk and a... more

Selected this hotel after finding it recommended in three different guide books. However, we were greatly disapointed. The room was not just bland (as the guide said it would be) but dirty. There was a glob of something sticky on the wall. We couldn't tell what it was because it was covered in ants. We cleaned the wall including other... more

I spend my working life travelling and staying in 4* hotels (Hiltons mainly). And on this S.E. Asia trip our family stayed in both the 5* KL Hilton and the 4* Singapore Hilton, both fine hotels that I'd be happy to stay in again. But the strongest memories (as I write this 8 months later) belong to our 4 nights... more
