Our arrival did not bode well, the booking was wrong and staff spoke no English, we had Thais with us which helped, we were ignored. The trip up the narrow stairs with trip hazards and filth was not pleasant either. The air-con was new and worked well. The wi-fi was also okay. The room was pokey, the mattress lumpy and... More

Cheap place to stay with clean rooms. If you are looking for cheap stay then you can consider the hotel. However, few things :- 1) Rooms were small in size 2) Self-service - don't expect a waiter or room service 3) No restaurant. For breakfast, there is a small section in front of reception where the receptionist can give you... More

I've stayed at Nine Place for months at a time three times now, so I'm an experienced long-stay traveler. I rate it highly because it meets my needs; it's very close to all the fine restaurants in Ekkamai and trendy Thong Lor, and you can get to Silom and downtown with a straight shot down Rama IV; and the BTS... Not easy to check in, the two ladies didn't understand one word of english. After two days of travelling we did not even shower due to the horrible smell of the cockroach poison. No window in room. The hallways are dirty but the room and bed ok. Not coming back.

Have stayed here a couple of times out of convenience and cheapness. You're unlikely to find anywhere cheaper in Sukhumvit. These are simple, modern rooms that are not maintained particularly well by the charming, hospitable and friendly owner. Had some problems with cleanliness, the beds don't seem to get changed regularly enough judging by hairs found over the sheets. The... More

Have stayed here twice now and to be honest, I don't know why I went back. The first time the room was not very clean, but the second time was completely unacceptable. Only because we had to get to a storage unit around the corner did we stay again as it was convenient for that. It is not convenient for... More

We stayed 4 nights there, room was tiny, but had hot shower, toilet and fridge. They didn't clean the room at all while we stayed there. Wifi didn't work in our room, had to go to reception. No sheet on blanket and had some dirty. Other rooms looked better and more clean than ours, so out review is only based... More

We booked a double room on laterooms.com for GBP 11 per night, however when we got to the hotel we were told no double rooms were left only twin rooms. We got into the room and there were two good sized single beds pushed up against the wall. There was a wardrobe with a curtain cover in the corner which... More

Staying in Sukhumvit

Neighborhood Profile
Sukhumvit
With a mix of shopping malls, hip bars and food stalls lining both sides of Thailand’s longest road, you’ll rarely encounter a dull moment along Sukhumvit. While the main road itself doesn't offer a lot in terms of entertainment, it's the adjoining 'sois' (alleys) where the magic happens. Popular spots are soi 11 for a lively night out, soi 4 for naughty nightlife and soi 21 for world-class shopping at Terminal 21. It's hard to cover everything this area has to offer in on day, so be sure to take your time. Sukhumvit is heavily congested with traffic during day and night, so getting from A to B is most convenient using the BTS Skytrain right above it.
