So far so good! Only one night here so far, but this place is old, clean, and has enough to be a good base camp. Delightful rooftop with tons of plants, nice owners, and not-so-scary cold showers. This place is tucked away near Rama IV road and a slice of heaven for less than $14 a night.

I was here 2 times. I chose Salathai first of the area (Sathon, close to Lumphini and different busses and MRT), then for the price and finally for its warm hearted atmosphere. I will write the pros and cons seperately and in the end you decide, if you would like to stay here :) Pros: Really cheap for an area... More

This place is already overpriced for what it is - its run down, its in a seedy dirty area even though it's close enough to the heart of bangkok - but upon arrival the owner will inform you that you have to pay 50 baht extra a night for wifi. And the wifi only works half the time. Good luck... More

Family owned 3 storey house with roof top terrace. Very welcoming and clean, made us feel like we are home. Quite central, Close to lumpini metro station and cannot hear the noise of the busy streets.

The name is a bit of a joke, as with many places in Asia. But you can probably tell from the pictures this is no mansion. That said, it's cheap and has a decent location. There is a laidback, motel atmosphere, and I feel like this is the kind of place where people stay for a few months on a... More

I stayed at Sala Thai Daily Mansion for 1.5 months. The place is nice enough. The staff(Noi and Ram) are excellent. This place is overpriced in comparison to similar accomodations in the area. The owner, Anong, will nickle and dime you for everything that she can. For approximately the first half of my stay, Wifi internet was free. Then she... More

This is a great place for a backpacker to stay in Bangkok. Clean, friendly, peaceful and helpful. The reason for not 5 stars is not free wifi as most places offer and was a little overpriced (450 baht for a double with fan). You can get this with private bathroom even in more central Bangkok. Overall though I would definitely... More

Lovely place , really hard to find though , down a quiet tree lined alley . Has an amazing roof garden , the staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are quiet , clean and simple. The communal TV room is a good place to share experiences and it's in the middle of Sathorn Soi 1, an up and... More

Pros: - rooms and bathrooms are clean (for a backpackers hostel) - free clean water - well located (close to embassies, transportations, bars and restaurants) - not noisy - free borrowed maps, guides and books while you are staying - cute garden on the roof to relax and read a book Cons: - terribly overpriced!! All the hostels right next... More

The Sala Thai is a great place to stay for people who like the homely and modest style of accommodation. The rooftop garden is a very nice place to have breakfast. The rate is good. I really look forward to staying there again for the 3rd time.

Staying in Sathorn

Neighborhood Profile
Sathorn
Sathorn is Bangkok’s central business district, but here you’ll find much more than international banks and suited-up office workers. Take a stroll along the small alleys between the skyscrapers and you’ll find yourself among Bangkokians living life at a much slower pace. Feast on fantastic Thai food which you can find in the town-house restaurants, office food courts and sidewalk food stalls spread all over the area, especially around St. Louis Hospital. A visit to Sathorn is not complete without a drink at one of the glitzy sky bars perched atop its skyscrapers.
