The owners/workers of this hostel couldn't help you enough they were so lovely. Tried to stay here again when we came back to Bangkok but it was all booked up! Our room was spacious, with a shared bathroom/shower which we never had any problems with! About a 10 minute walk from Khaosan road so perfect if you want to be... More

Good value for money, it is well located near Kaosan Road and not too close to avoid the noise. We took a double room without AC. It was then quite hot with only 2 fans but we knew it when we took the room, if you go during August take the room with AC. The bedroom and the shared bathroom... More

Decided to stay here for our lastnight because it was cheap and we wanted to experience Khaosan before leaving. This was our 1st taste of a "hostel" and we enjoyed it. Its tucked away from the main road, about 5 minute walk. Nice and quiet. Our room we got was the very 1st room on the left when passing the... More

First impression was pretty bad. After emailing the hostel stating that I would be checking in after midnight I was assured that it was no problem. After getting there though and ringing their bell numerous times they never came. Finally a guest let us in but didn't know what to do either. Finally someone came down and checked us in... More

We love it here. The rooms in the first building are spacious and cool even without aircon, everything nicely decorated like somebody's own house. The shared bathroom was modern and spotless. The rooms above reception are smaller with just matresses on the floor, bathroom not as nice and much warmer but still bearable with the fan on. Above reception also... More

As this was our first stay in Southeast Asia, we had some apprehension about what things would be like. The staff at Khosan Baan Thai made things really easy for us, providing maps with places to visit and directing us to an "off the tourist trail" market when we asked. The breakfast was simple but good, and we felt very... More

I really liked the location of this hostel; it was not too crazy busy. Free breakfast and WiFi, but the former is basic (eggs, toast and hotdogs) and the latter is spotty. Still, the staff was extremely helpful aiding us in getting around, booking train tickets and activities and figuring out the river boats. The room was clean and the... More

The rooms are basic - a mattress on the floor with fan(s) or aircon. Try to request a small room if you get a room with a fan; we stayed here on 2 occasions and the larger room got much hotter at night, plus it was just above the kitchen. Staff don't speak much English, but they are attentive and... More

Clean, broadly good value (although they charge for drinking water) and safe place to stay: staff generally helpful but not much English spoken. Bedroom fairly basic (just a mattress on the floor), bathrooms were fine and breakfast very uninspiring (2 pieces of toast, fried egg and frankfurter). Public transport options are limited - your best bet by far in the... More

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighborhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
