Do not go there.... room dirty, door to bathroom half ripped off, staff could not speak 1 word of english. 1st night we went out and came back around 10pm, gate closed...had to scream for security guard to wake up and open.2nd night, gate closed again, but this time even screaming would do nothing... we had to jump a 8... Cheap and basic but covered all the bases - clean, comfortable, decent location, friendly and helpful staff and good on-site restaurant with nice mutton curry. The price is at least 50% cheaper than any other place in Sukhumvit.

This is a tough walk from the sky train but worth the effort. Twin room great beds, cold beer on arrival, bathroom basic but clean and effective, hot shower with pressure. Air can is a great fan but no cold air. We are returning next week and would consider staying here though the 15 min walk with gear is difficult.

I wanted to give this place more stars but it would be dishonest. I stayed 3 nights and spent a long time trying to find somewhere else in the vicinity for a similar price and there was nothing as good or better for the 800 Bhat I paid. The staff took a while to warm up (I was excited to... More

This is my first trip to Bangkok and to attend a Thai cooking course in nearby culinary school. Since I took the last flight out of Manila, I arrived late at the hostel but the owner was very nice and instead of asking for documents, he asked one of his staff to bring my bags into my room so I... Himalaya residence is well priced for Bangkok. It's in a good spot, not too far out but still near stuff and a small walk away from the sky train. The room's are okay nothing amazing but nice and clean. The real winning part for this place is the staff, they are all lovely. The service was amazing. It's why we... More

A very welcoming hotel, very basic rooms although with an Nepalese style atmospheric restaurant. I booked in twice so saw two different rooms. One was very basic but a phone and good AC, clean but had a hostel style to it, the other was a bit better but still basic. Welcoming staff means a lot !!

This is a super place primarily due to the staff and owner. Great people and extremely helpful. Which is quite unlike what you will expect throughout the city of Bangkok. It is not an upmarket hotel, but a very very good Hostel. The rooms are very big, the beds the same queen size. Ensuite shower toilet average quality for Bangkok.... More

I was a bit leery when ‘bookings.com congratulated me on booking the ‘cheapest room’ at the place but I went anyway. I arrived a bit late and ordered food that I had never had before – I loved it! Try the Prince Henry curried chicken dish! Even the vegetables were strange to me I they were great. The restaurant sold... More

Staying in Sukhumvit

Neighborhood Profile
Sukhumvit
With a mix of shopping malls, hip bars and food stalls lining both sides of Thailand’s longest road, you’ll rarely encounter a dull moment along Sukhumvit. While the main road itself doesn't offer a lot in terms of entertainment, it's the adjoining 'sois' (alleys) where the magic happens. Popular spots are soi 11 for a lively night out, soi 4 for naughty nightlife and soi 21 for world-class shopping at Terminal 21. It's hard to cover everything this area has to offer in on day, so be sure to take your time. Sukhumvit is heavily congested with traffic during day and night, so getting from A to B is most convenient using the BTS Skytrain right above it.
