This is definitely not a place I'd recommend. But then again, if you're looking at reviews for Orchid House on TripAdvisor, you must really be on a serious budget. I stayed here when I was just passing through the Khao San Rd. area and didn't have accommodation booked and needed a place to crash for the night. Orchid House worked... More

I have stayed here in the past with no issues. Until this time. The room was infested with bed bugs. I burned the ones I saw on my bed with my lighter and took them down stairs to show the reception and get my 580 baht back. They refused. I grabbed my things and left. I will never stay here... Orchid House Hotel is a somewhat ramshackle guesthouse located on Rambuttri Road, which runs parallel to the famous (or is it infamous?) Kao San Road in Bangkok’s backpacker/ ne'er-do-well district. I’ve stayed there off and on for 3 years; currently off. Orchid House has 2 big pluses: 1. its location is ideal to view the outrageousness of the denizens of... More

I travel quite a bit and this place was by far the worst I have ever been to for a night stay. The bed sheets and pillow cases were dirty and had holes in them. I ignored this until I woke up in the middle of the night with over 50 bed bugs crawling on and around me! Immediately packed... More

The hotel is by far the best one we've visited in Thailand. The room is small, but decent clean. What we love about this place the most is the superb friendly service from the staffs!! Despite the comments about the bedbugs in this hostel, i really must admit that not only hostels can be a home for these small creatures... More

Room covered in bedbugs and cockroaches, woke up in the middle of the night being bitten, had to change hotel at 2am. No offer of a refund or good will money from staff. Stay somewhere else!

Worst hotel we've been to in 9 months travelling through Latin America and Asia. Pictures on internet don't reflect at all the hotel. Holes in the wall, smells of smoke in the rooms, stains in the sheets, suspision of bed bugs. Disgusting. We originally booked for 2 nights, but checked out after the 1st night, it was that bad. Avoid... More

Avoid it... Bed bugs. Enough said. Don't need 50 characters to spell bed bugs.

Although the rooms are nothing special, its a great budget option. I paid 400 baht for a private single room and the guesthouse is located on Rambuttri, the street parallel to Khao San Road. They offer free wifi in the lobby and the reception is exceptionally nice and helpful!

It's not expensive but nothing special. Location is convenient but what irritated us most was the noise. Noise from the street, noise from bands playing in bars and no proper windows that could reduce it. It offers free wifi at the reception. Would I like to return here? No, maybe it's better to pay a bit more and sleep better... More

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighborhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
