Im baffled by the negative reviews, felt almost personally insulted by some of those comments having had such an ace time there myself (from February - June 2013). Pants down to the snobby types that dont dare to venture beyond the 5 star 'luxury' hotels an turn their noses up to what is essentially a diamond in the rough! There... More

Living just down the road in Pinklao, The Overstay is a favorite place to catch up with local expats for a beer or ten, or to catch a party (ranging from Rock to Jungle Drum & Bass). I'm no fan of the Khao San vibe, so its great to be able to hang out around likeminded travellers or expats, sharing... More

Firstly I'll add a caveat - I'm an experienced traveller having pitched up in all kinds of hostels, hotels, motels, guest houses + friend's sofas/floors in over 20+ countries. I am in no way 'fancy' about what I expect from a place to stay. However, this is literally the worst place I've stayed in for a number of reasons, which... More

We booked a double room in the Overstay. It was a pretty chilled out place, good people, good vibes. The art was impressive and the rooms were spacious. However the bed had a mattress like a rock and no sheets provided. The bathrooms were average, shower and toilet in the same room. No toilet paper but a bidet, which is... More

I'm a bit amazed with some of the comments like 'horrible place or worst hostel'...If some people are too fancy, should stay at home or pay more and find a different place. The money you pay are very little and conditions are good-I'm traveling for a while as well and trust me that this place is very nice...You can cook for... I traveled India for over a month so I've seen some poorly run hostels but this was by far the worst. Smells like mold and smoke in the entire building, bed squeaks, holes in the bed sheets, cockroaches everywhere, very weird and unfriendly owners, and its still a good 30 minute walk to khao San road.... There are places just... More

Very relaxed place with no pressure. Nice people, good music, good beer... Little bit dirty bar and dark rooms. Nothing for holiday shampoos but great place where to have a rest from the turist hell in Thailand for long time travellers :)

What can i say about the overstay? I love this place, amazing people, located in a thai part of town so good cheap street food and something different to the whole khao san road backpackers ghetto but close enough to walk or catch a bus or taxi if you feel like really going there. To be honest this place just... More
