Taipei is one of the best cities in the world. It exceeds the standard on food, access, price, things to do, things to see, friendliness by far. But be fair, the state of the median hotel in Taipei is sorely lacking from an international standard. In most cities, you'll find that an average 3-star hotel would be similar to a... More

We stayed here for four nights before visiting Sun Moon Lake, the room we had was old fashioned, dark and although it was clean it smelled of cigarette smoke. As we were out all day until late it was fine as a base and to sleep in. On our return from Sun Moon Lake we were give a refurbished room... More

Our package holiday included this hotel. On the bright side we had a window and were given a handicapped room, huge bathroom and a motion (pardon the pun) activated flush system for the toilet. Room had wi fi which was patchy and dissappeared for one day of our 4 day stay.My wife did go down to the desk to complain but she... More

This time, as numerous other times, I had a very good time while staying at the First Hotel in Taipei. The First Hotel and its staff, in all these years in general but in this year [October 2014] in particular, have always were extremely helpful and friendly. I do feel that the First Hotel is indeed "my home away from... More

For a first trip to Taipei, this hotel in my eyes, is just OK. It is definitely does not fit my description of a fancy hotel, but for a place to stay for evenings, it suits the purpose. There are a couple of fast food places and shops within walking distance (5 to 15 minutes walk) and there is a... More

Due to the large amount of trading exhibitions in Taipei in Nov, and the First Hotel is the only one left within our budget. So we book the double room for 4 nights. Transportion: you can take the freego bus from the Taoyuan International Airport and drop off right outside the hotel. Loaction: 5mins walk from the Songjiang Nanjing station,... More

My first trip to Taipei and booking a hotel was not easy task since I don't know a word of Mandarin and it seems like all the budget hotels and guesthouses does not have an English as a language option in their official web sites. A friend finally recommended this hotel and I made the reservation with his help (translating... More

After reading mixed review about this hotel, I decided to try staying here to experience it for myself. I would definitely recommend this hotel for the low to medium budget traveller. We paid $85 US/night, and in my opinion it is well worth the money. Rooms are adequate, not super high end but very comfortable. Lots of space to put... More

I stayed in this hotel for one night. To my surprise I was upgraded to a very spacious suit on 9th floor with beautiful Chinese silk embroidery pieces on the walls. The rooms are very comfortable and bathroom has separate shower and bathtub. The location is great and this is a very nice Japanese style restaurant downstairs. The hotel accommodate... More

Room with double bed was relatively small and equiped with only basic stuff. Bathroom is small (similar to the size of small bathrooms in Japan). Breakfast is very much basic. Room with two twin beds was bigger and also equped in the same level. Main advantage is the location.
