Eight Elephants is a great hostel in the Guting area. It is easy walking distance to many sites such as Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial, Shida night market and Daan park, as well as being right next to the Guting MRT station. The hostel itself is very clean and has all the amenities a good hostel should, such as wifi, helpful staff,... More

Worth of finding! Helpful staff, give you map and show you the taipei highlights plus you get a small map of the surroundings. Very handy! There is a small kitchen, fridge and you can also make your laundry here for 50NT! The showers are good functioning with hot watter, the sheets are clean. Perfect.

After a long travel all I wanted to do was eat, shower and sleep and that's what I got and more. We checked in and they provided maps with best places to eat and all the sites with a lot of local knowledge and tips. The rooms are nice, clean and safe shared shower but clean and hot. We stayed... I've been here twice. Always the best choice if I have a short-time trip to Taipei. Small, warm and clean. People work here are all nice and sweet.

I stayed at Eight Elephants for around 2 weeks and I loved it! With no itinerary in mind, I had met awesome people from all around the world and always had something to do. Eight Elephants's location is extremely convenient right next to the MRT station with 24/7 7-11 convenience stores. The staff is awesome, they are always there to... More

I stayed at Eight Elephants for several weeks. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating to my odd travel schedule, and ensured that I was able to enjoy all of the activities Taipei had to offer when I was there. I would often wake up, consult my guidebook, and then chat with whomever was working at the hostel at the... More

I was made incredibly welcome by very friendly staff, who did so much to help. Very cozy place, loads of local information and maps supplied. Endless nights sitting with staff and guests playing music and chatting. It was soooo hard to leave. Its hidden down a quiet back street in a central location, discovering it added to the mystery and... More

A hostel so inviting it warranted an alliteration in the title. I had the pleasure of staying at EE&DD during my time in Taipei, and I will certainly return next time I'm in the area. The staff took the time to painstakingly note down all the points of interest on the map they provide, and made some great suggestions. The... More

I write this review a bit late since I stayed there back in in January 2014 I emailed them I was going to be arriving late since I was flying in from New York. I arrived near midnight. I apologized for being late face to face to Will the Tall Lanky White expat from America, but his reply was "... More

This is Sara. I’m very sorry that you didn’t have the best welcoming at our hostel. I’m sure Will didn’t mean to give you that impression nor being passive aggressive. Everyday he waited for those people who arrive later than 10pm for us. Not as a proper staff here, he was probably just being casual about the whole check-in procedure.... More

The location is pretty close to the Metro once you are familiar with the route. They provide basic necessities and gave the cosy hippy vibe. There are several food stores available and walkable to Shida night market and Yongkang street. Youbike rental are nearby if you want to try cycling around the neighbourhood. I wouldn't mind coming back again!
