The main reason I chose this hotel was because it's walkable from the HSR station. We were checked in quickly with no fuss and I was pleasantly surprised at the size of our room. The in room WiFi works pretty well. There's nothing really flash of memorable about this hotel but for a stopover it does the job. Check out... More

I think this hotel is a solid 3 star but had the potential to be 4 star with a few improvements. The front desk is just that. .a standard office desk instead of the usual shiny counter you'd expect in any hotel. The staff really have average English and are a bit nervous dealing with guests. The corridors look quite... More

The room is big but the whole hotel looked old. When I arrived there is no one to assist to open the main door (non automatic type). The toilet flushing is not working well and have to call for the maintenance. The price is also consider on the high side as this is the only hotel which does not include... More

The building and rooms show its age but cleanliness is not jeopardized. It may not be spotless but rooms and bathrooms are comfortable enough. Basic amenities in the room are available like TV, hairdryer, AC, toiletries and other hotel compendiums. There is no breakfast cafe and no room service. Nevertheless, decent bakeries and many convenience stores like 7-11 and Family... More

Awesome hotel. The hotel staff service was remarkable & helpful. When I call to check my room aircon, one staff name Miss Curry help me with the aircon setting. Thereafter she called up to check and following up with an inspection herself. The internet / wifi was free. The room I stay was in decent condition. Certainly I will going... More

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Getting around in Taipei is really cheap, so it was no problem that it was so far from the main Taipei station (~20min walk). It is about 10min walking distance from the Shandao station, which is one stop from the main Taipei station. You can get there for about $20 NT (less than... More

it takes about 15 mins walk from the station, and there are a lot of restaurants nearby this hotel. this area is like a little japan in taipei. room is quite ok, no surprise or shock. very important, there's no any funny smell in the room or toilet. room size is quite ok compare to other hotels at this rate.... This hotel has a good location with lots of small traditional restaurants and small shops nearby. Ten minutes walking distance from the nearest two metro stops. The wifi worked good and the staff was helpful. The room did not have a window and there was no breakfast, but the room was quite big. We stayed for three nights, even though... More

Anyone who plans to visit Taipei, I would highly recommend ASTAR HOTEL. It is located at No. 98, Lin Shen N. Rd. Taipei Zhongshan. It is a 45-minute drive from the Taoyuan International Airport Terminal 1. The hotel receptionists are very courteous and warm. Since it is not English speaking place, they tried their best to make you feel welcome.... More

This was a great little hotel for our stay in Taipei. We stayed 8 days while we played tourist and visited lots of Taipei. It is very convenient to the MRT - 2-3 blocks and the main train station. Lots of little shops and restaurants. Excellent staff - took great care of us and our lack of Chinese speaking ability.... More
