Stayed only one night and that was a shame. We were put in the "blind room" featuring a theme with brail dots all over the room and no sharp corners. Many of the rooms are designed to a certain theme by local designers, which is really fantastic. Building is really special and if you have interest in architecture and design,... More

This hotel is located in an unique building with a lot of architecture and design features. For example we stayed in a Japanese style room on the top floor with a onzen like bath and tatami/futon bed. The staff is extremely friendly, fairly good with English and service oriented. The breakfast is not a buffet but served. A lot of... More

We stayed here for a couple of nights while exploring Tainan. The hotel has many creative touches which are welcome in a taiwanese hotel. Some of these features lack cohesiveness but the overall effect is still nice. The room we had was large and included a little study nook which although cute was fairly useless for our short stay not... More

Though it is rated as 3-Star in some website, the hotel is very affordable. The room is comfy and the corridor and every corner is furnished and decorated. The hotel is very close to the city's many landmarks and attractions and restaurant is a great place to relax and unwind with good food before and after a long day out... More

Online booking cannot request room type. However, it was so surprised that they offered me my most desirable room type, which was the "weaver girl" 308 room (refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qi_Qiao_Jie for this Chinese story). I sent them lots of enquiries before my trip about transportation & they still answered my patiently. Upon check-in, their front desk officer provided me a... More

We were pleasantly surprised to see a staff coming out to welcome us as we stepped out of the cab. Overall, we were satisfied with the service provided by the hotel to make our stay memorable especially helping us to arrange a cab to bring us to see plum blossoms. Breakfast was served in Western style but we also got... More

The room is clean, the receptionist is very considerate. They will let you easily touch the Tainan.

One of the most unique small hotels we have come accross. Modern Classic, delightful individualized themes in each room with a definite Japanese influence. Excellent traditional Taiwanese service and caring friendly staff who take great pride in what they offer. A hidden gem in the bustling city of Tainan.

Funky design and helpful staff, free wifi / coffee / tea in cool common areas. Staff keen to show you where and what to see in the area (temples/night markets/bars etc). Good location for most of the sights too. Rooms were tastefully and interestingly decorated. Recommended.

This hotel emphasises creativity in design: it mixes the old and the new and the end result is refreshing. All rooms are unique, and the furnishings are superb. You just have to look at every room to admire its character. The rooms are not very big, and you should not expect any twin-beds (most are queen sized). The hotel is... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The JJ-W Hotel is a new life of the old Jia Jia Hotel near the historic West Market in Tainan, thus its name, which stands for both the new and the old Jia Jia, representing a close relationship between each other. The old Jia Jia Hotel was constructed in the 1970s, designed by the very first licensed female architect, Hsiu-Lian Wang. It can be considered a meaningful emblem of Taiwan’s progress toward a multi-cultural society that shows equal respect to different genders. Unfortunately, this meaningful emblem could not survive the cruel market competition, the old Jia Jia’s reputation and business fading. ... more   less
