A few minutes walk from the hectic Thamel area restaurants and shops brings you to the laid back Kathmandu Peace Guesthouse in Paknajol. Book exchange, clean rooms, hot water, responsive staff, great rooftop hangout area with views of Swayambhu Temple and (occasionally) the mountains. A good base for area day trips.

I love staying here! Last year when I came to Nepal I stayed here for a total of 5 nights I think - I was there for a volunteer gig and my lodging was already chosen for me. When my bag didn't arrive when my flight arrived, the staff at KPGH were so helpful and sweet about it. Everyday we... More

This is my 3rd time staying here, and this time for a total of 21 nights. A very comfortable super deluxe room (one of the new rooms), is reasonably priced at around $20. Very clean, and good working shower with hot water. Rooftop is great, and there are good views of the Ganesh and Langtang Himalaya, on a clear day.... More

The hotel overall wasn't a bad stay. It is a guest house after all, though I probably would stay elsewhere for the price (my accommodation was booked through my volunteer company). There's free wifi, although if it was working it usually wasn't for much longer. Best very early in the morning or late at nights. No hope during the day... More

We had a good stay here, the room was clean, spacious and reasonably furnished. We had a deluxe room due to lack of availability and felt that it was slightly overpriced relative to other places in the area. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is good, 10 minute walk from the centre of Thamel, but tucked away down... More

I stayed at The Guest House by a reccomendation. It is old fashioned and ill maintained. The main virtue (if that) was that it was cheap. But cheapness should not mean grubby linen and rusty bathroom fittings barely functioning. Staff were friendly enough: but service was so painfully slow in the dreadful excuse for a restaurant, which had paint peeling... More

We stayed here for 2 nights on our arrival to Kathmandu. When we first arrived it seemed like a nice place to stay, in a quiet location and relatively clean but nothing too special which is what we expected. However, the owner of the guest house Raj is only after your money,he tries to get you to book everything through... More

Nice and simple hotel with a very friendly staff. The hotel is situated in an alley in Thamel. Thanks to that it is a pretty quiet and relaxing stay in busy Thamel. The rooms are fine, prices are just a little higher than average but still are cheap. They have proper food and even do room service if asked.

I stayed here for just 2 nights as part of my orientation programme with International HQ volunteering, so i didn't actually choose the hostel myself. I was however pleasantly surprised. The staff are very nice, helpful and work extremely hard. The room was simple, clean and had hot water! Woohoo! The food was great in the restaurant and there was... More

I first stayed at the Kathmandu Peace Guest House in 1992 and since then I've stayed there so many times, I couldn't count! I wouldn't stay anywhere else. The owner, Keshab, is now a close friend; the staff are great; free Wi-Fi; good food in the restaurant; airport pickup service; reasonably priced; clean; quiet location on the edge of the... More
