I booked a deluxe room in this hotel for 3 nights but the moment I entered my room I wanted to leave right away. I called Reception Desk and advised them that I'm checking out in the morning. That one night experience was so horrible (not an exaggeration). I couldn't sleep whole night. The room was so dirty..that includes the... More

My first time in Nepal. Didn't know what to expect. My two boys, 18 & 12 were expecting the unexpected. The hotel was kept. Clean. Had all the basic amenities needed. There was 24 hours hot water supply. We went during winter, the room heater was excellent but Kathmandu on the whole have electricity limitations. There's electricity power cut for... More

As soon as you pull into the property, there is a garden which is nice, but thats about it. The rooms are small and very old with creaky wooden floors. We had a group which was using 6 rooms, and all 6 of the rooms had some sort of insects or bugs in them, even the "Suite" which had a... More

I thought the hotel was OK and offered some value. It's close enough to walk over to Thamel but far enough away to be away from the hustle. I was planning on staying only one night, walking around and finding new a new place to stay in another part of the city. This was the best I found in my... More

It's in an excellent location, within walking distance to Durbar Marg, Thamel. The rooms & property is in a serious need of updates. The room was really cold at night, the comforter they provide is so heavy, that by the time you wake up you'd think you've had a slab of rock over you. The hotel is probably purely surviving... More

I've stayed in Hotel Ambassador for one night before going to Pokhara.. the Hotel is not maintained well, not clean, yellowish bed sheets. However, the staff were very welcoming and pleasant. I can tell you the only thing good about this hotel is the location; it's just on the calmer side of Thame, and it's within a walking distance to... More

Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback. The hotel is ideally located in the heart of Lazimpat. Due to the government road expansion problem we lost a part of the building. Therefore the management has decided to bring the historic 35 year old hotel to ground zero and bring our valued guests a brand new Ambassador. We are open until... More

This is not a 5 star hotel. But the water was hot (a rarity in Nepal), it had air conditioning and the rooms were clean and comfortable enough. The staff are friendly. Close location to Thamel "the" shopping area for Westerners. I will stay here again when I return to Kathmandu.

We booked this room as it reviewed well. Unfortunately our experience did not reflect these reviews. Firstly, the room stunk and had visible mould everywhere. Secondly, no remote control for the air conditioner. After we asked, it took a long time for this to be attended to. Thirdly, just killed the first cockroach. Wont be surprised if we see another... There are certainly several hotels in Kathmandu that have more stars but Hotel Ambassador has a level of comfort, attentiveness and warmth that cannot be beat. I have stayed at the hotel for three years running for 3-5 days each visit and the consistency was amazing. Not only did they remember me but the staff would all greet me and... More
