Just an hour after the first big earthquake in Nepal the staff at hotel Mandap checked myself and two friends in. The staff at Mandap proceed to provide us with food, drinks, and a place to stay even though, due toATMs working, we couldn't pay them. The team at Mandap treated us as family. If it wasn't for their kindness... More

we stayed at the hotel for 3 nights straight after the April earthquake. The 3 staff members stayed at the hotel around the clock and really looked after all of the remaining guests superbly. They cooked us all the meals at the time when most eateries were closed and advised us when best to make use of short time when... More

Been here often over the years. Staff is extremly helpful and pleasant - and not just the "tourist" friendly. Would strongly suggest a major upgrade to reflect 21st C. need to recharge electronics: rooms need many more electrical sockets to enable recharging. (Work around: get to an electrical shop & purchase a small power strip, which may be most useful... More

This hotel is right in the heart of the Thamel tourist area. You can walk to The Secret Garden easily and to many shops and the historical squares. The rooms are tidy, but roomy enough when you do twin share. This area is inclined to be a bit noisy due to the sheer numbers of people but Hotel Mandap is... More

It’s in a center location in Thamel. only liked the restaurant & lovely bakery café! we booked a standard double room for a night but we were very disappointed for the following reasons: Room was very small, dark and dingy, very different from the impresssion we got from the web-sites!The doors and windows did not open and close properly. The wash... The hotel is well located in the heart of Thamel. It was really nice to have hot shower after long trekking on the mountains. The hotel is clean and near everything you need. Good restaurant and cafe just in front of the door. It was a bit noisy from the pubs nearby but I still had a good sleep every... More

Hotel mandap is a confortable hotel with confortable rooms and a cozy space for meals in the garden. If you want to sleep eraly, maybe the hotel is a litle bit noisy at night due to the nearest bars. Very conveniently located though, just in the busy thamel centre. Liked it!

For Mumbai I had taken a group of Chinese employees who had to visit Nepal for purpose of visa renewal. We found Hotel Mandap the most convenient hotel in Nepal for this purpose. All requirements were taken care of by the most courteous staff. They also arrange for a translator / guide who takes care of our Chinese employees from... More

Clean by Nepali standards, very friendly staff, great location in Thamel. 24 hour running water (hot most the time). I stay here each year when I visit Nepal, the staff are great and helpful, the hotel is in the centre of Thamel so close to everything you need. Theres an onsite restaurant and bakery though I usually eat out with... More

But the hotel is old and everything needs work. Everything from the shower to the doors to the beds to the food. It's very noisy and often smelly. Only the neighborhood construction noise really drives me crazy. Much of Thamel seems over built, but the banging, sawing and drilling seems to never cease. The frequent technique of closing the windows... More
