We stayed for 3 nights, a week before the earthquake struck. The hotel is in a lovely location, away from the hustle and bustle of central Kathmandu but close enough to the tourist sites. There was a tourist bus provided f.o.c which was a good bonus. All staff provided excellent service and were helpful and courteous throughout. Special thanks should... More

We were billeted in Gokarna on April 25th but the big M7.8 massive earthquake hit Nepal. Although there was no damage in Gokarna (except the old lodge building away from the main hotel/resort), they run out of rooms because the guests could not check out as most flights that day was cancelled. We decided to move our stay to a... More

Absolutely wonderful despite the earthquake, and we felt very safe there on the outskirts of Kathmandu on the edge of a beautiful forrest. Staff went out of their to make our stay very enjoyable, arranging cars etc as we needed. We able to help some local villagers on a personal level through one of the staff, Rajindrah the bar manager. Tashi... More

I stayed in Gokarna Forest Resort right after the Earthquake and felt quite safe there with its wide open spaces, very helpful and friendly staff, spacious, comfortable and clean rooms and good vaiety of food in the restaurant. It is such a secluded heaven from all the chaos of the city, but very closeby in case you'd like to dive... More

My wife and I stayed at Gokarna Forest Resort prior to our Mt. Everest Basecamp Trek and after. We were extremely pleased with the location, on the outskirts of Katmandu, and amenities, restaurants, food, lounge, even golf, that the resort offered. Being a forest resort we were able to experience the monkeys and deer that live on the property. We... More

My husband and I stayed at Gokarna Forest Resort in Kathmandu for 1 week at the beginning of April and 1 week at the end of April including the day of earthquake and 5 days after it. Gokarna is a gorgeous hotel located on the outskirts of Kathmandu in a beautiful lush forest. Our first week was truly relaxing holiday,... More

I was at the resort when the earthquake struck Nepal on 4-25-2015. My third visit before and after a trek in the Annapurna region, and a visit to the Bardia National Forest. The hotel is said to withstand M8 (Richter 8) earthquake and did not show have structural damage. The hotel staff was excellent. From the manager and the front... More

This resort locates on the hill, above the area near Boudhanath stupa and the airport. If you want a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere away from the congesting and pothole filled roads of Kathmandu, this can't be a wrong choice! Settling within the forest of Gokarna and overlooking the golf course, your room would be as closed to nature as it... More

Visited on a Conference. Stunning location and very pretty views of the mountains, forest and golf course. Hospitality of the Nepalese was first class, charming, helpful, genuine and efficient. Food: maybe ok by Nepalese standards, but not up to western standards, according to my sensitive, delicate, spoiled palate. Impressive hotel at first glance, but needs tidying up. Cracked tiles, poor... More
