I stayed at Hotel Friends Home after the earthquake for two nights and was so impressed by the service and the friendly and helpful staff that I came back again later in my trip for another night. It certainly lives up to its name. There is unlimited tea and coffee in the lobby. A varied breakfast of eggs, sausages, tomatoes,... More

I stayed in this hotel for 3 reasons. 1. Safety. Being in Nepal after the post earthquake made me a bit scared. I wanted to stay in a place that if something happens again (God forbids) the place is strong enough to withstand any calamity. The reviews of this hotel from travelers made me convinced to trust my safety here.... More

I can't say enough good things about my experience at Hotel Friends Home. This place truly is a home away from home. The rooms are clean, cool and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast is better than anything you can find at many American hotels. The service is impeccable. The location is ideal because it is close to everything but just enough... More

I stayed at this hotel three times over a period of two weeks when I went to Nepal as a volunteer engineer to work with some rural villages post-earthquake. My fellow engineer, an experienced and licensed structural engineer, examined the Hotel Friend's Home before he would allow us to stay there, and gave the building a Green designation - safe... Hotel Friends Home was our base while travelling around Nepal in January. We stayed three times, and were very impressed each time. The hotel was surrounded by construction but was actually very quiet inside, which is great as Kathmandu is a noisy place! Hotel Friends Home is an easy walk from Durbar Square, markets, cafes, bars and restaurants, however the... More

The employees at this hotel are almost too friendly!!! 😊 From loaning me an umbrella, to making phone calls, to bringing me afternoon coffee, to offering advice & directions...they have been wonderful & attentive! The rooms are clean & the location is adequate. The small restaurant is quite good as well! The people of Nepal NEED for tourism to return!

This hotel is a good spot with great rooms, wonderful Indian food and sweet hospitality. It is standing amongst some buildings that are being rebuilt. It is actually quiet at night because it is not right near the music street scene.

I stayed here one month after the earthquake. I agree with all the all the other positive reviews. Hotel has it all . . . friendly staff, airport pickup, good location, wi-fi, good breakfast, lunch and dinner available too, clean, comfortable rooms. For example, the day I arrived they arranged a spur of the moment tour around town with a... More
