We stayed here at the start and end of a trekking trip. The hotel is very friendly and the owner and staff were very concerned and caring for my wife who was unwell there for a few days . We were made very welcome on our return from our trekking trip as if we were long lost friends. No doubt... More

I highly recommend that travellers and trekkers stay at the Hotel Utse while in Kathmandu. I have used the hotel 4 times over the past 20 years, and my recent stay was as enjoyable as usual. The Utse is family-run and the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable, the lobby is like a big living room, and... More

Our group of 13 stayed at Utse in September and October this year. Madame Diki and her staff are so welcoming and helpful. Two days in a row they took us back in to the hotel after we had checked out when our flights to Lukla were cancelled unexpectedly. They accommodated our fluctuating plans with ease and charm. Their rooms... More

Thirty years ago (we were about 20), we had a trip in Nepal and used to eat to restaurant Utse. It was a small restaurant with a great tibetan cooking. Now, we return in Nepal and surprise : we find the same restaurant, but bigger with an hotel too. And we can say that 's cooking it's always so good,... More

We stayed at Utse Hotel as part of a package with our trekking company. It was in the Thamel District. Nothing too fancy, but clean, comfortable and a warm shower (took a little while to get running). There was also a restaurant on the ground floor that did a delicious meal- we ate there fora breakfast and a dinner. A... More

Outside it is chaos. Inside, it is quiet, peaceful and serene, thanks to the Tibetan couple who have been running the hotel and restaurant since 1991. The rooms are clean and all are very different. The last room I was in after three weeks of trekking was so welcome, with a hot shower, toilet, towels, tv and comfortable bed. There... More

Excellent location to visit Thamel and 5 minutes walk from the tourist bus departure point for Pokhara. This hotel is reasonably quiet (compare to outside noise) and the restaurant is a must try for great Tibetan food. The rooftop balcony is a hidden gem to have a relax drink away from the dust and noise of the street. Highly recommend... More

I visited during easter with friends who had met Dicky, Ugen and their daughter many years ago. Their Kitchen (tibetan food) is first class, their very polite, yet friendly attitutde towards guests is very heartwarming. If I ever go for another visit, Utse is the place for me, all though we only had dinner there this time.

This is a solid place to stay. The location is great, the price was right, the room was clean and bright (except at night if there was "load-shedding"). Hot water anytime--when i did have a plumbing problem, it was fixed within an hour. The staff are helpful and the restaurant is very good.

I had a one day layover in Kathmandu and stayed at this hotel in order to have a place to leave my bag and have a shower. The staff were super helpful and friendly and I was able to negotiate a good price because I was not spending the night there, but would only be using the room during the... More
