Our company recently went on a trip to Nepal and the 14 of us stayed at Malla hotel, in Thamel. We spent 3 nights there, and whilst it was comfortable I felt the price was a bit high for what you get. Thankfully it was clean and the breakfast was pleasant, but it's fairly dated and could use a few... More

The Malla Hotel is named after the Malla Kings of Nepal. It is an Old hotel. We stayed in Room number 514 for two nights and 208 for one night. 514 was better than 208. The furniture and toilet fittings were old. For a 4 star hotel they do not have exhaust fans in the toilets, No tea making facilities... More

We stayed at the Malla at the beginning and end of our trekking trip to EBC. While the reports are mixed, it was good to arrive after over 24 hours of travel to a reasonably sized room, with a decent en-suite (with a very powerful shower) and a large comfortable bed. While the decor is a bit tired, remember that... More

This hotel could be really good with a bit of care and attention to basic maintenance, a lick of paint and staff trained and supervised to housekeep to a high standard. Staff generally good and quite attentive. Tried to buy a coffee in the Terrace Coffee Bar but it was obviously too difficult for the young man busy on a... More

We stayed in 3 different rooms over 3 weeks, 227, 311 and 315, whilst using it as a base in Katmandu. It reminds me of an old colonial hotel that has seen better days, it is in an excellent postion, close to the Thamal district, the Palace and various other attractions which can be reached by suzuki taxi for around... The lobby appears inviting, with comfortable seating and current newspapers. Large sitting room is behind the lobby. I stayed in Room 507 on the top floor. There was an old king bed. All furnishings are old and quite worn. The baseboards are dirty. The carpet is worn and badly stained, making one wonder how long it has been since they... More

Another good example of a great lobby but dreadful rooms. We had room 706, looking out over the Award winning Garden. A pity the rooms are not Award winning. Our room was worn, dirty, curtains torn, Doors very dirty. Apparently no money is spend on keeping these rooms up to a certain standard. Breakfast was not very good. Perhaps the... More

The location of the hotel is great near the Thamel district and the entrance and common parts are good, but the bedrooms are very tired and tarnished, the bathroom was dingy and the plumbing was in a poor state of repair the service staff were friendly but the dining room staff were miserable and also tired looking. The breakfast was... More

I am a British Nepalese, own a business in England. This time the purpose of the trip to my birth place Nepal was Climbing Mt Makalu and Mt Amadablam. Before and after the Expedition I had some spare time in Kathmandu. During this period, I mostly stayed at Yak & Yeti, and Annapurna which both were amazing. Due to unavailability... More

We stayed here on three different occations, in three different rooms, for a total of five days during our 34 day tour.. The lobby and public rooms of the hotel are really nice, you think you are checking into a five star hotel, and the grounds are outstanding, we loved looking onto the garden from our rooms. Other than the... More
