As has been said before, this place is both greedy and unprofessional. We had a room booked here as part of a (very expensive) organised tour. We arrived to find that our room had been given to someone else. It turns out that there was a Air India flight cancellation so they gave away some rooms. When we arrived they... more

Comfortable hotels in the Thamel area are not plentiful, but this is one. The standard was ok, although the price was much too high. Compared to normal prices in Kathmandu, this hotel is very expensive - I belive the rack rates were around 100 USD, which is multiple times what other nearby hotels or guest houses charge. You do get... more

Their original property has good gardens, the back rooms are away from the traffic noise, and the lift usually works, but their annex has no lift, no nice rooms, bad air conditioning--and they try to shunt you off there if you got a good rate on your room. Recommended on condition you get a room in the original building. more

We stayed there before and after a trekking in Nepal, which, by the way, was great, but there is no other reason to have been there or to repeat. Location: Very nice for shoping and eating, you can even have nice walks in the real, non-turistic Kathmandu from the hotel in less than 5 minutes or you can go to... more

We started and finished an organised Annapurna trek at this hotel and if it hadn't been for that, we would not have stayed here. The lobby area is smart and modern and that is about all! Both the rooms we had in the annexe building were small, dated and badly in need if a refit. The road outside is pretty... more

I was on a trekking holiday as part of a group of 10. My first experience of the hotel was when trying to change money. I was given 500 rupee notes intstead of thousand, costly mistake, had I not been aware. On the first night, the hotel room was so poor I asked to be moved to a different hotel.... more

I made a booking for Hotel Marshyangdi, Kathmandu, Nepal from October 21-23, 2008 through makemytrip.co.in and paid in advance through Credit Card. The reservation was confirmed by makemytrip through an email voucher that I reconfirmed with the hotel. After having done all this, on my arrival the hotel refused to give me a room as they had given the room... more

I would normally give this place 3 Stars. However, after seeing a few other hotels that friends were staying at, I thing the Marshyangdi is pretty darn good as far as location and overall quality. I stayed at the hotel as a part of a package so I have no idea what the rate was but I think the place... more

We stayed for seven nights, four before a trek and three after. For a first visit to Thamel it is well located and very safe. The lobby is comfortable for a cup of tea and the staff are friendly and accommodating. The first room we were given was on the side nearest the hotel generator (which comes on according to... more

We just came back from our honeymoon trip today from Kathmandu and Pokhara. Kathmandu is a highly impoverished and chaotic city, but the people are very polite and the culture runs deep. The hotel is average; exactly what you would expect from a 3 star hotel. Service is very good..and location is superb...we were close to everything....highly recommended for famililes. more
