I have never been to Nepal before and arrived in torrential rain to be taken through the hurly-burly of Kathmandu traffic to the haven of Dwarika’s. The photographs I had seen before I arrived gave only a vague impression of how wonderful the hotel was. It did not really feel like staying in a hotel, except that the service was... More

This hotel was absolutely stunning. Amongst the hustle and bustle of the capital, you arrive not far from the airport to a driveway. Once inside you realise this place is like an ancient monument. It is like a mini paradise with artefacts collected by the owners family for years. We were welcomed by the staff in a traditional Nepali manner.... More

he property is like a serene little haven, an escape from the sensory overload that is Kathmandu. It is silent, peaceful and full of natural beauty. The room we stayed in on the top floor was huge and had a beautiful open plan granite bathroom. It was a lovely space to come back to after hustling our way through the... More

Kathmandu is a bustling city of many faces. This is an oasis in the middle of it all! We arrived after a busy trip in India and were ready for a little break, and the Dwarika's Hotel did not disappoint! It is a beautifully restored Newali complex with authentic and spacious rooms, delicious restaurants and bars to choose from and... More

A friend of mine bought a wedding gift for us and he left it in the room before heading out for lunch. When we got back from lunch, the room had been made by the housekeeping and we realised that the gift was missing!! When we called the manager to look into it, he spent two days looking into it... When we first arrived and walked through the door from the street, it looked like a little village. They had these beautifully restored unique brick buildings with wooden carved windows overlooking a few courtyards. There were flowering trees overlooking the courtyards and the site was completely idyllic. Even at night the courtyards were brightly lit up and absolutely beautiful. Among... More

This hotel was a treat at the end of a 3 wk vitamin distribution effort in hill villages. Breakfast was included with room the first night but not thereafter. Free yoga each morning was fun. Spa services were unique and reasonably priced by US standards. The ancient massage was 75 min including passive yoga stretching and ayervedic massage--$60. Gift shops... More

Dwarika's is a special tranquil experience in the midst of chaotic Kathmandu. The mix of architecture, spacious and beautifully decorated rooms, great food and fabulous service combine for a memorable experience. Make sure you try the singing bowl massage. It will help cure whatever ails you. I'd recommend without hesitation.
