We stayed at the Kathmandu Guest house when we arrived in Kathmandu for 2 days and again prior to our flight home. The garden is lovely a real oasis in the bedlam that is Thamel - the garden rooms overlooking the courtyard garden are nice, a bit shabby but clean. Whilst the common areas are beautiful, the rooms are rather poor for the prices - in dollars - that you get charged. Also, it doesen't include nearly anyh services - such as Internet connection - and the power keeps going on and off on certain rooms. I would recomend it, but for one night sleep. more

Not actually stayed here but we often eat in the terraced restaurant at the front. It has a new outdoor tandoori oven range and chefs who make just about the finest curries I've had anywhere in the world. And I've had a few, I tell you! We're going back to KTM next month. Can't wait! more

The KGH has a great atmosphere with fantastically friendly staff. Definitely worth a stay in this historical hostel. more
