I'm sure there will alway be people who come away with bad experiences and they would likely say similar things about 5-star hotels in Vegas too! I stayed at Thamel Eco and I only have the highest praise for there services and the quality of their accommodations, food and service staff. I was there in 2011 and I will be... More

I stayed in the Thamel Eco Resort both at the start and the end of my trip to the mountains in Nepal. Though none of the taxi drivers seemed to know where it was located (!), the hotel is in a brilliant location in the centre of the thriving Thamel district. The real advantage in the location is that whilst... More

I booked two nights here for the first and last night in Kathmandu, I paid a 60 USD deposit, and the first night was honoured, when I returned for the last night 2 weeks later I was told there was no booking, even though this hotel is only 3* the 4* where I stayed for the last night was cheaper,... I stayed twice at the Thamel Eco Resort during late October 2014 and early November 2014. I was extremely satisfied with my stay. The hotel is centrally located in the Thamel neighborhood of Kathmandu with easy access to the central bazaar and the many cultural sites in that area. The grounds and common areas of the hotel were kept clean... More

This is a beautiful hotel in Thamel. Nice and calm even though it is close to the shopping streets. Nice rooms and good food in the restaurant. The breakfast buffe is very good in the morning. They even have a spa att the hotel with very nice massage. I really recommend this hotel :)

We had the pleasure of staying at the Thamel Eco Resort on four different occasions during our recent five week Nepal adventure with Earthbound Expeditions. The Thamel Eco is the "full package": well-appointed rooms (we were in four different rooms on three different levels - all excellent); friendly, helpful reception staff (thanks to Sunil and the rest of the gang!),... A quiet oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the old city core. We were well taken care of. On the first night, the hotel was full and we ended up with a room near the bar area where smoke/noise was a problem. On the second night, we were moved to a palatial suite that was really... More

I stayed there 3 years ago when it had just opened, and came back recently for 2nights, then went off for a trek with Earthbound Expeditions, then back for 3 nights. Have to say I was sad to leave. Its a great location for exploring Thamel, and Kathmandu. They will arrange taxis and guides for sightseeing (through Earthbound), rooms were... More

Stayed here for 1 night before and 2 nights after our trek, the first time in twin room with en suite, rooms were clean and comfortable beds, but looking a bit tired, as were the bathroom towels. Breakfast is buffer style and fine, not the best quality, but it's included in the price and there was a varied selection. Love... More

Overall we stayed just one night, hotel unable to accommodate us a second night but sent us to a sister hotel closeby. Our room didn't have an ensuite much to our dismay and no hot water in evening or morning. Only that hotel was booked through trekking company we likely wouldn't have stayed as nothing special here. Staff at reception... More
