After traveling for 3weeks in China, Tibet and Nepal Pauline's was a welcome ending to our trip. The food was excellent, especially the apple cake, fresh bread and chocolate mousse. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We cannot say enough good things about Pauline's - highly recommended.

After nearly 10 weeks in Nepal this was, once again, the perfect place to stay before returning home. First stay at the Pauline's was a year ago and it was wonderful. The second time did not disappointed either. Sometimes you take a risk going back somewhere special a second time, I'm glad we did- it's still special. This year we... More

This is probably my favourite guesthouse of all time. Sure its not 5* luxury but I could have lost myself in this magical place for a long time. In fact we did, we extended out stay from 2 to 4 nights and then were lucky enough to return 5weeks later to spend a very special xmas in this slice of... More

We did not (yet) stay at Paulines', but went several times for lunch and/or a relaxing afternoon. As we are Kathmanduites ourselves, the clean air, bucolic surroundings and calm of the place are a most welcome break from the city. The guesthouse itself is charming, decorated with much taste, and the welcome by the two owners (both called Pauline) is... More

This little farm house could be in the countryside of France! The rooms are simple but clean (we stayed in room 2 and 3), the bath room which we shared had proper fittings. The food was excellent with European fair with choices of veg. and non veg. which worked perfectly for our family. The children loved the donkeys and our... More

We spent our summer vacation in Nepal and stayed at the beginning and the end of our trip at Paulines. Great place. Rooms are very nice in this little farm. Our kids enjoyed the pool and the horse ride. The Paulines and the staff are extremely nice. The Food is outstanding home cooked mainly European Cuisine. It is quite far... More

We spent four days with Paulines, Keela, Gonga Boo, Krisna the donkeys and the horses and the crazy leopard that we never saw (please forgive me if i have spelled the names wrong). 2011 had been a very busy year for both of us and we were looking for a place to relax, take it easy and enjoy life. We... More

Perfect place to spend our last 4 nights in Nepal. The guesthouse is a good distance from Kathmandu so you feel as though you are out in the countryside. It is so nice to take advantage of all the little sitting spots to just take it all in. The strength of this place lies in its hosts; Pauline and Pauline... More

What a terrific find! it's as if you have been transported to a country bed and breakfast in France. The rooms are very comfortable and well-decorated, down to the smallest details. Pauline and Pauline are great hosts, there to help but not overly intrusive. The meals were the best we had while in Nepal (the chocolate mousse was to die... More

We spent three very relaxing days in this charming place. The rooms were a great combination of comfort and style with every attention to detail. Food was also superb. Recommended if you like animals and need a break from the noise of motorbikes.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Pauline’s guesthouse is located in Tokha Chandeshwori on the Northern edge of the Kathmandu valley, situated at the foot of scenic Shivapuri national park. Pauline’s guesthouse is an old dairy farm where we produce our own cheese. It was built in the pure Nepali tradition, using local construction materials: stone, dried mud and earth. Typical and genuine Newari-style details, such as windows, columns, and stairs, complete the look. Set in a peaceful location on the edge of the jungle, surrounded by the terraced paddy fields of traditional Tokha village and offering a stunning panorama of the Kathmandu valley, Pauline’s guesthouse is the perfect countryside getaway, and a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu city. The fact that we have only three guest rooms ensures the tranquility of your stay. We provide bed linen and towels, as well as a complete range of Himalayan ayurvedic beauty products. Meals can be enjoyed both outdoors and indoors. They are prepared using fresh local produce, much of which has been grown and harvested in the neighboring fields. Both Nepali and western-style meals are served. ... more   less
